If Arteta had started his first eleven properly, Havertz injury excuse would not be mentioned

Eze and Martinelli starting instead of Merino/Trossard

Trossard & Saka to come on for Martinelli & Madueke, while using Merino as the Gyokeres replacement if required

FWIW I think Trossard starting was the right call given his performances. And he looked much sharper in 2nd half when Saka and Eze came on.
Maybe Trossard-Merino-Madueke would have been the best frontline today.

Pep's post-match comments are all about how much better we were.
Lowest posession for City since he arrived.
I was surprised at how technically poor they looked - a lot of random hoofing to clear the ball.
Haaland is obviously a monster and Donnarumna is exactly the keeper you'd want to play against us.

Arteta isn't brave enough to win the title. I am completely for the midfield we started at Anfield, although Eze should have started in place of Martinelli.

But to start that midfield at home is just weak. There are no excuses to start Merino and Rice as 8's in a home game. A shame we have to wait another season now to see if we have what it takes.
