Qwiss personally would’ve voted exactly like Dula. Last season suggested we would be 3rd best (after City and Pool). I think we benefited from Pool falling flat on their faces , taking us up to 2nd. But 3rd was a good bet for this team.

Once we were in 1st I only felt we would stay there as long as the best players stayed healthy. They didn’t. C’est la vie.

Claudius That's not so surprising is it? We crashed out of the top four race last term. Arteta himself constantly tells us we are ahead of schedule, so I guess even he had lower expectations of his squad this season. Then we fly into a blazing hot start (50 point half season) and top the league 70% of its duration, and then crash and burn at the business end of the season again.

banduan that's not true actually.. it would have changed with the games we lost during the run in, but earlier in the season we were either top, or second for picking up points from losing positions.

I’ll wait for the end of the summer. But if we get Ricedo, I’m willing to put us as favorites next season regardless of what other teams do. That combination would allow us to overcome both Partey and Saliba/Tomi injury woes. I’m very comfortable with philosophy and trajectory and have been for a while tbh. 🙂

Claudius Expectations are (rightly) quick to rise and slow to fall. After an astounding and unexpected first half of the season it's only natural the expectations and demands placed on the team and manager are different to those before the season kicks off.

It's only natural that you are judged against the level you have shown you can reach, not that of which you have shown previously.

Big Willie the fact the first two you mention are back to back is bullshit too. Right around the time of last 16 CL fixtures. One dreams of a guard of honour at Old trafford.

No one will call us ‘young arsenal’ that have overachieved.

We must now bring success next season. We have just broken the British transfer record ffs.

Expectations going to be sky high going into next season and rightly so. You want to act like a big club and break transfer records then we need to win like a big club too.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 lol don’t get nosebleed - City, Chelsea and United have spent far more on their squad over the years than we have. One big summer doesn’t really change that. Nevertheless we should challenge for the title at least and snap up a trophy

An interesting thing is that I think our first XI next season will be as young or younger than our first XI was the previous season.

Also your criteria is still arbitrary, City spent less than Spurs or Wolves last season - doesn't mean expectations were lower for them. They spent about a billion in the decade leading up to this season. We're starting at a lower base so we've got to catch up to stay still.
