Expectations going to be sky high going into next season and rightly so. You want to act like a big club and break transfer records then we need to win like a big club too.

Also your criteria is still arbitrary, City spent less than Spurs or Wolves last season - doesn't mean expectations were lower for them. They spent about a billion in the decade leading up to this season. We're starting at a lower base so we've got to catch up to stay still.

banduan True. Expectations of this season aren't based on the price of the squads, but the quality of it. Chelsea's and United's squads are more expensive than ours, but I sure don't expect them to finish above us.

I guess I expect second again since it's pretty much impossible to expect a PL win over City before a season. A good run in the CL where we don't go out as a joke/meme would be fun as well.

To me a solid second in the league, and getting out of the group in the CL would be a good, consolidating season, given the higher average difficulty and density of our fixtures it would mean, and the probability of a bit of a slide back from the heights of the first half of last season.

So much for expectations … but I do hope that like last season we fans get to dwell for a while with the idea we might finally bring home a major trophy. The closer we get, the closer we get. I love this squad Arsenal has built, I am really pleased its brightest stars have already signed on to long term contracts, and after the maudlin 10s, I truly appreciate the emphatic way we continue to recruit.
