  • Official: Mikel Arteta is the new Arsenal manager.

I think the most urgent need is to recruit a Chief Sense of Humour Officer for OMITT.

I must admit I’ve lost interest in much of the structure around the club since the Wenger days. Logically to me Raul x Sven x Emery should have been far more effective than Arteta x Edu, but one turned out to be an unmitigated disaster and the other a success story, so what do I know.

The football itself is just about enough for me to stress about these days, at least I can critique what I can see.

    Edu came in as a rookie though and made many mistakes. We need an Edu but with 5 years experience.

      The most interesting aspect of the club's reported "leadership trajectory" at present, which I've seen mentioned in more than one outlet and context, is the increasing involvement and decisiveness of Tim Lewis.

      Lewis was already the trusted Kroenke henchman whose arrival on the Board signalled a cleaning of house and the end of Sanllehi.

      If there were any "push factors" involved in Edu's exit, my bet would be on Lewis's presence and reported increased involvement in decisions, and his positions and style having a lot to do with Arteta's apparent clout with KSE.

      goon I think the main differential you allude to there is that Edu and Arteta at least worked in collaboration rather than Raul, Sven and Unai all being at odds with each other. Doesn't mean it was necessarily perfect but evidence of the basic requirement of just collaborating with each other.

        These guys are bored between transfer windows.

        Gazza M Ornstein continuing his mini campaign against Arteta after his "too much influence" comments of the other day. I can't imagine this goes unnoticed, I wonder what's paying for it, extra clicks for a bit of an Arsenal agenda?

            lorddulaarsenal I mean I haven't been watching this Ornstein stuff but I don't think his point is unreasonable. I think that Arteta should be looking at delivering a trophy pretty soon. I felt this year personally given the time and investment behind him. It can't be open ended where we win nothing because that's pochettino Tottenham level outcome and the football we play is really not that enjoyable so it's only tolerable long-term if you actually deliver honours.

                QuincyAbeyie Wasn't there some off the record forensic investigation into Ornstein's tweets around summer that found an implied attempt to influence specific contracts or transfers (he constantly posted and retweeted about certain players)? Can't recall the details but I don't think he's pure.

                    Burnwinter can't say I've heard about it, but could be true.

                    It's definitely true for Romano though. He's paid to hype up players, often by their agents.

                      Burnwinter he said that during the summer, it was just reposted now. Not that it matters that much. But it's not controversial, 5 years in, 720 mil spent ... you should win something. And it's not like we are asking for much, the league and CL are out of the questions, but a FA Cup or the League Cup now that some big guns are out already should be enough...and then next year push again for the title.

                        awooga83 I hear what you’re saying, but we are on a definite upward trajectory and although this season has had its issues we can still make it successful.

                        I don’t feel Arteta has completed his squad yet - I’d judge him fully once he has been able to make an addition to the attack or two

                            Artera has been backed like no other Arsenal manager in history. 5 years and £800m later he needs to deliver. How do you know it wasn’t Artera’s idea to NOT sign an alternative to Havertz this past summer? His risk but he ultimately has to pay for it if we don’t win anything.

                                awooga83 100%. 5 years in and Klopp had won it all at Liverpool. The 'process' must deliver something meaningful soon-ish.
