Mokbel reported us being interested in Di Maria last month. We're hearing too much about Benzema leaving and not enough about a new star forward coming to Real Madrid. It's the latter that would suggest this has a real chance.

We probably were monitoring the situation, we probably do the same for many players. Wenger is a fan of Di Maria and had it not been for work permit issues we would have signed him years ago. Think he'd be a hell of a lot better for us than he was for Man Utd.

Yeah, I know - the link I sent basically refutes that article.

It pretty much just says Wenger was once interested in Di Maria were he available but obviously would never happen again because of the wages and because he's a United player. It's classic Daily Mail click bait.

If anything, that article correctly predicted Jenkinson's new contract.
