Indeed. Podolski would jump at the chance to move to a better club. Not that he would warm the bench at Arsenal anyway, but he'll always be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Germany for as long as Löw is in charge.
Lukas Podolski

I guess you are right but I don't see this deal happen in January, I can see it in the summer
Podolski could be what reyes promised to be, but i get the feeling wenger isnt interested.
10 million would be a bargain, podolski and van persie would be perfect, we need to buy someone who can finish.
The Daily Fail haha!
The Daily Mail were first onto the Henry story, way ahead of everyone else....
I don't know why but I think there might be some truth in this.
I was convinced that Wenger would not sign another striker but I'm not so sure now.
As long as Cologne don't get greedy this might happen?

Could happen, plenty of smoke. Could also see us backing out of the deal if Koln ask for £10 more than we're prepared to pay.
I'm trying not to get too excited about this
It would be a major shot in the arm if we get him.
I´d love for us to sign Podolski, but I don´t really believe the 10m pounds reported. I know transfer fees from the Bundesliga are generally quite low, but I still can´t see Podolski move for anything less than 15m pounds. Somewhere between 15-20m seems a lot more plausible to me. That would effectively take us out of the running I´m afraid, although it really shouldn´t.
Koln are skint, this is how they funded Podolski's transfer last time.
Plus he's only got 18 months left on his contract, the only other team that's interested atm is Schalke and he's fallen out with the club management.
And £12m-10m for a player playing for a struggling club whose contract is up soon is a decent fee.
We should snap him up. Bendtner and Chamakh should hopefully go, to be left with RvP, Podolski, Henry (short term) and Park for the rest of the season will be good enough.
Unless Köln are desperate to sell him now as opposed to in the summer, then I disagree 10m pounds is a good price. Even now in January I can see a few clubs willing to spend more than that to get Podolski.
We aren't going to sign Podolski unless we sell Chamakh, and we can't sell Marian because he's not here to be sold.

It would stop me moaning for a while.
Think it would stop us all moaning for a while Biggus.
On Chamakh - we can fax him the news.
Seriously though, he doesn't actually need to be here for us to sell him does he?
I would have thought most of the negotiations are done via agents.
If this happens, I don't think Podolski will be in Chamakh's position in the squad anyway. He's best as a wide forward, while Chamakh is a centre forward (lolololol) and so he'll competing with Arshavin, Rosicky and Benayoun, and the three of them may not be here next season.

Maybe, it's worth remembering that these numbers could be bullshit, particularly since we haven't even made a bid yet and speculating transfer fees require too many assumptions to be made. At any rate, I think we're in with a good chance - I would have thought we have some sort of relationship with Koln as well given that we've played them in pre-season (i.e. they don't think we're cunts).
Reckon he's there for the taking for anyone who wants to pay £15 million for him. I have a feeling we might go for him. It would be the most logical transfer we've made since we signed Arshavin a couple years back.

It would.
I'm completely convinced on this now.
There have been so many instances with Wenger though where the most logical thing would have been to go into the transfer market but Wenger has chosen not to. We have been short both in numbers and in quality, in defense and in midfield in particular, and yet Wenger has opted NOT to buy.
Unfortunately I can very well see Wenger thinking along the lines that this squad has taken us into the top 4 with half the league games still to play DESPITE the horrible start we had - why the need to strengthen? Especially when he has already secured Henry while Gervinho is at the ACN. I think Wenger is also wary of the the fact that if he signs another forward that means less chances for Miyaichi and AOC, two younguns I am positive he rates extremely highly.
I agree, us getting Podolski makes a lot of sense. I have stopped trying to guess what Wenger will do though.
