Podolski is clinical. He doesnt mess around infront of the goal like Gervinho does.
Lukas Podolski
I think theres more chance he'll join spurs. Harry loves to go for players we are linked with
Wenger doesnt think logically he constantly plays players out of position, he has ryo and OX in the squad yet chooses to play arshavin and rosicky, he brings on chamack when we need a goals, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Only when he is forced into something with huge media and fan backing ie buying arteta, mertesacker, santos and benayoun will he do something "logical"
I don't even know the point of discussing this - we all know arsenal are not going to sign Podolski or make any significant signings in January. And by significant I mean players that will go straight into the first team. A loan move for a out-of-favour left back maybe...but that's it.
We're in danger of missing out on the prize so I'd say there's a chance of this happening. Nobody thought we'd sign Arshavin either.
It's funny cos we have a serious budget available yet none of us are even confident we'll sign a relative bargain like podolski
Wenger in years 1 to 5 of his tenure would have bought. Buying podolski would be akin to when he signed wiltord
For some reason, I get the feeling this is really going to happen.
I don't think we'll sign Podolski. If we actually spend some money in this transfer window - which we all know is very unlikely - then I'd guess it'd more likely be a younger player, similar in profile to Jose Reyes.
Can only see a signing if rvp or theo get injured in the next few weeks

Even Arsene can see that in our current predicament we need older, experienced players.
I reckon that's why he's been limiting game time for all of the younger players (obvious exceptions being Ramsey and Szczesny).
I really think that there is genuine interest in Podolski, and if the price is right we'll get him as it's getting more obvious that Robin is pretty much at the limit already.
My gut feeling is that Podolski is not the sort of player Wenger would rate highly enough to spend (relatively) big on.
I can't see it, Y. We have Henry now, so Robin can have a breather here and there, and Chamberlain will play more games. So we've already (sort of) fixed two problem areas.
I think there's a tiny chance we might go all out and nab a long-term target ala Reyes, in order to beat off competition, but I wouldn't put a penny on it - and I don't think Podolski fits into that long-term target category regardless. He just doesn't fit the profile for a forward we'd sign, and even if he did, would he really want to move 6 months before the Euros begin? I don't think he'd take the chance, why would he? In a number of different ways it's better for him to wait until the summer.
I'll be stunned if we actually signed him this month. I think it's very unlikely.
I think the interest is genuine but it depends on how much we want the player. I don't think Podolski fits the bill of a player than the press would arbitrarily link us to either. That journo from the Express is adamant that we've sent scouts to watch Podolski several times this season. And Wenger's also strengthened every time the prize has been under threat, although admittedly we're good side this time around, we're just paying for a shit awful start.
However, it's far too early to even get worked up. 30th January is when things start moving.

See, I am not sure Wenger and the board see it that way. Another way of looking at it is that once we had the current squad assembled with the aquisitions of Mertesacker, Santos, Arteta, Benayoun and Park - we have taken more points than pretty much every other team in the league. Why the desperate need to strenghten then?
We as fans see us as team that is short on quality in attack bar RVP, and as a team that is pretty much an RVP injury away from falling apart. Not at all convinced Wenger sees it that way.
I think maybe Wenger does see it that way Rex.
Robin rarely gets subbed or rested - he's played more PL minutes than any other Arsenal player this year.
He scores a disproportionate amount of our goals.
Wenger said on Friday that he has to be assessed on Sunday and Monday as regards his fitness for the game against Fulham.
They are playing with fire if they don't have a back-up plan in the form of signing an attacking player (not counting Henry).
Y this is wenger we are talking about. Wakey wakey
Podolski is not a great fit at all for us as an RVP replacement though. For us his ideal positions would be either wide left or in Ramsey´s position.
Hey, 2 years ago if anyone had said Wenger would spend more money on defence than on attack you would not have believed that either!
At any rate, I really do think we'll see a couple of players coming in the front line. Preferably now but certainly in the summer.

I know, I know .
Don't really understand why I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, I've just been thinking that he has to see that he cannot keep playing Robin in that number of games without it ending in tears.
He's seen enough of Chamakh to know he's not up to the task, Park has zero PL experience, Chamberlain might be outstanding but you got to reckon he won't be consistent.
Gervinho and Theo just aren't sharp enough.
Surely he sees all of this? He has to.
We're so dangerously close to missing fourth so he can't afford his annual January gamble.
