I´d say Cesc is a better player than Vieira in his pomp.

Is Terry not a good captain?
No.

No, I thought I just made that clear. What does he do thats so great as a captain, the way I see it Lampard, Drogba, etc all do as much. He's just captains a very experienced team. He's an embarrassment to his club. Then again I suppose he is a fair representation of what that club and its fans are all about, so there is that.
He was a disaster of a captain for England, even tried to stage a coup at the World Cup after he'd been stripped of the arm band.

I wouldn't.
And then the manager gave it back to him because he was the best candidate.
Laugh all you want. A player who represents his club the way Terry has done on several occasions will never be regarded as a good captain by me. Apparently Capello agrees.

Yes, I did. I love watching a collection of great players playing football at the highest level. Wenger used to furnish us with that kind of entertainment. We were blessed to watch his teams 10 years ago.
Of our remaining players Sagna and one of our central defenders would easily play in that team. Wilshere would be pushing hard. Barcelona were barely at 70% capacity while Madrid were playing at full throttle and still couldn't win. Barca are a level above everybody right now, Madrid are a good collection of attacking talent.
Sagna and Wilshere would not have made that team and you know it. Most members of our squads from 10 years ago would've walked onto that team sheet. That is how far we have fallen relative to our rivals
Quality wize he is in the same league. Henry and Bergkamp better, Vieira worse, on pure footballing ability. He's been at the club for as long as Henry was. He didn't win as much, but we all know that's not his fault.
People talk about "pure footballing ability" but I'm going on performances, ability is nothing without execution. Vieira made a bigger difference game to game, he was a born winner and he made sure we won matches. His pants may not have been as fancy as Cesc Fancypants but Vieira was absolutely world class for a long, long time. Their hasn't been as good a centre mid in the Premiership since Vieira and Keane left.
Can't believe there is actually a discussion on whether Cesc was better than Vieira..

Sagna is twice the player that Ramos is at right back and Madrid subbed in Callejon; as if Wilshere wouldn't have been ahead of him in the picking order. Pepe is absolute shite and both Vermaelen and Koscielny are better than him.
Me neither since Cesc is quite clearly the better player.
I´d take Pepe here in a heartbeat. He is at least on par with Vermaelen, and is also a really good CM.
Ah, you're just on the wind up.
For a minute there I thought you were being serious.
Next thing some will be classing Cesc as an Arsenal legend.
Dead serious.
Cesc will never be an Arsenal legend since he didn´t win enough here. Has absolutely nothing to do with his quality. Switch Vieira and Cesc and put them on their respective teams and the trophy haul would be reverse.
Liam Brady is an Arsenal Legend and won exactly the same trophies as Cesc, so that isn't the reason.
Pepe is a dirty scumbag but a class defender. Ramos is useless
