You already know my view on this, so I won’t go overboard, but I still disagree with a few points. I get that you don’t see this window as a failure and feel that we might sign still a LW, but my point is always about the “what if we don’t” scenario - and I think we part ways on how costly that would be.

On Martinelli, I don’t think him being “hard to upgrade” is necessarily true, Eze who's been twerking for us all summer is one example of a clear improvement on him. Martinelli would be great back up for a side with major aspirations but he can't be a starter.

On Madueke, I know you see him as undervalued and versatile but I just don’t think he's a good use of £50m. Backup for Saka is important, but not at the expense of LW (understanding of course that things might change and if it does, so will my impression of the signing - would still be overpriced but as long as its not a blocker I'm not fussed - not my money after all)

We’ll see how it plays out, and hopefully you’re right in the long run but for me, if we don’t bring in a starting LW, we’ll have left ourselves short again.

Anyway - let's just smash United on Sunday, yeah. Sick of transfer talk and just want the football to start.

I think we have a squad right now that is capable of winning the league. I didn't go into last season with any real expectations because I thought we didn't do enough in the window. This year I believe we have the right squad, with quality in every position. If we can move Trossard and replace him with an upgrade then that's great but I'm not losing sleep over it and I don't think its going to hold us back much.

Sensible from Spurs point of view, take advantage of us not moving on this.

JazzG They can sell him a story of being the creative hub of the team in Maddison's absence. He must also be looking at that thinking Maddison is always out and if he makes it his own this year then he's locked down in their team. That's not as clear cut here. The exact role in the team isn't as well defined, and wherever he plays he's facing much stronger competition than he would at Spurs. There's a tendency to think he'd choose us, but those would be realistic concerns for any player who wants to actually play, despite how much he may want to play for his team.

Tam True, I think as fans we don't realise this but it is a big deal when you promise someone they'll be first choice. Eze is at the point in his career where he needs to be playing frequently.

Part of why we struggled to get a backup to Saka was players knew their playing time would be limited.

Gazza M He is a massive upgrade on Maddison for them imo.

It would be a massive shame to lose out on him and if we do want him I'd like to think the board would be more flexible and just get the signing done because our other players will sell but might not sell until the end of the window.

No they wont. They were 17th last season. They'll finish between 8th and 12th is my prediction. That's as midtable a team as you are going to find.

JazzG hardly knee jerk, we’ve all said he’s the final player to complete the summer for the past 2 months and he’s going to our biggest rivals. It that doenst piss you off I don’t know what will.

We still don’t have a LW which was a non-negotiable pre-summer.

It’s cool, not end of the world we don’t win something this season right? So ok if Eze joins them and we sit on our arses. Always one player short = 21 years without a title. All good.

Sicario2 We've probably had the best transfer window this club has ever had and you're still not happy? You say LW was a non negotiable but I got the impression I was in a minority on this forum who said the LW position was more important than signing a CF. Eze can play LW, probably to a decent level but he is not really the type of LW player I'd have top of my list.

I do want Eze though, I think he can be a top alterative to Odegaard when needed. But he isn't THE LW signing I wanted but I think a player like him would be incredibly useful to us. I have mentioned on her before but I have my doubts about Odegaard and don't think Nwaneri is ready to step up either so we need a player who can play his position but when needed can cover other positions because we will need to give them all game time.

Sometimes you can't do everything, I don't know whether it is a money issue or whether the club are waiting on someone else. Tweet above from new Tier 1 man indy seems to think we are waiting on someone before making our final transfer but that other ITK who has been reliable says we will make a move but not yet. Lets wait to see how things play out before we make any judgement on this window.

Wait a sec - haven’t we significantly improved a team that’s been challenging very well for the past 3 seasons? New top class players in plus development of youthful players.

Arteta has also stated that we are actively looking to bring another player in.

Now I’m not Martinelli’s biggest fan, and I’d definitely like to upgrade that left side of attack, but surely if he’s going to reach the level he showed a few years back then now’s the time, with increased competition for his place.

I foresee Madueke smashing it on the left anyhow. Plus Jesus can operate wide well - fingers crossed he can regain full fitness

Disappointing from a mocking Spurs perspective if it happens, but it'll ease off fast when Eze's turning in Spurs level performances at Spurs.

You can't win a league title with Martinelli/Trossard as your LW combo. It's just not happening.

TambourineMan we were a point of winning the league with them 15 months ago. With the other additions to the squad we are better than that now. Last season they had 16 goals and 12 assists between them in the league. That's decent returns from the left.

Of course you can. You don't need 11 world class players to win the League.

You just need quality throughout the team and the team needs to work well as a unit. We have the former, remains to be seen whether we can achieve the latter.

Also, we now have Madueke in there as well, so we're not exactly just banking on Martinelli and Trossard.

Eze is a good player, not a transformative one. I just don't see the point of the level of angst about this.
