haven't been this excited about an academy product since wilshere. saka, ESR and nwaneri were eye-catching too, but there's something else going on with dowman. there's a grace and intuitiveness about his play that separates him from other talents ive seen. hopefully he sees plenty of cup minutes

Well, to be fair, im sure he wanted to be (and is now being) paid like a player, and not as a prospect. So i guess we could start treating him like a player, even if he's 18. I know, unfair, but he's a member of the first team now.

USArsenal I'm totally on board with it, I'm just saying that there comes a moment where our judgements of a youth star go from "How good could this kid be?" and "I can't believe those bastards tackled him as if he were a full grown man" … to "Eye-catching but he's given it away again" and "Is this kid actually going to win us this match?"

It's to Nwaneri's credit he's already in that latter category, Dowman is catching up fast.

Yep, Max and Ethan are still kids. Who knows, Ethan might have a whole season where he feels a bit underwhelming, and we won't know why. Could still be his body filling out, him maturing or whatever. They're both kids. Let's hope they're both still with us in 5 years and playing great football.

I see Max being the seminal talent people say Ethan is.
Don't get me wrong, I think the latter is a very good prospect. But the mentions of "future Ballon D'Or winner" are more applicable to the former.

Looks amazing. Has that effortless upright running with the ball quality. Keeps his head up and looks straight at the defender, while he has complete control of the ball and his surroundings. Also, doesn't really use tricks. He just uses body feints, angles and manipulates defenders' centre of gravity. Like the best driblers do - Messi, Yamal, Robben, Iniesta..
