Anyway sharing this little tidbit about Max and some of our youths.
I was having lunch with one of the staff who is now with the first team, but was previously coaching the youth.
He told me that there's a consensus amongst all backroom staff that Max Dowman is the most talented player hale end has ever produced. More talented than Wilshere, Nwaneri, MLS, Saka etc. In fact, Saka was not expected to be this good anyway, he was very underrated when young.
He is extremely sought after, they think he has the potential to be like Messi, that's how good he is. Which is why Arteta was desperate to involve him in the first team, so as to make him feel wanted to keep him. Why? Because all the sharks around the world is already hoovering around him. They know he is special. He is close with other hale end grads who left because they didn't see a pathway for themselves, and they are not oblivious to the fact that heads get turned, especially when you see your good friends leaving and then starting in first teams. However, from our side we are confident, especially because his father is a huge huge huge Arsenal fan (think of a house with all Arsenal memorabilia etc). One of the coaches said "If he leaves Arsenal, he might need to leave his family. :lol: "
Other than him, Marli Salmon was also mentioned as one they really look to nurture as they rate him higher than Heaven. But a word of caution was that it is always the one they didn't really pay attention, that worked harder from 15-17 to develop themselves and maintain good habits, hang around with good people that became first team material while many others who was talented lost their way. They have seen it many many times before. Enter underdog, Andre Annous.
I was also told that we tried our best to hold on to Obi, but they are less certain we will regret him than Heaven as Obi was dominating the youth because he was built like an adult, but he also have a "mentality of an 11 year old. Once he loses his physical advantage he might not be as good. Was also told his head was easily turned due to his immature mind by bad people around him.
