Don Pacifico Henry doesn't need to be an Arsenal fan in the media. He needs to be a good analyst - and leverage his knowledge of and affinity to the club to add perspectives and hypotheses that other analysts can't. It feels like he is doing that, and I actually think it is helpful to have a sympathetic but critical voice.
What is not helpful is guys like Neville and Carragher who routinely attack us and position us an arch-villain. That I can do without.

Don Pacifico Fans need to put on their thinking caps. I generally support Arteta as you guys have seen around here, but I think it is important to have well-considered positions on what he and the rest of the organisation can do better. If people can't handle the truth, then that's their problem.
Claudius as I said, it's not about truth. I think most fans are aware that things need to improve, even if they are supportive of Arteta and the club. It's about unnecessary pressure and distractions.
Also, I don't need Henry or any other ex-player to inform my opinion. There's plenty of healthy discourse from neutral sources to provoke consideration.
Sicario2 I think we're all agreed Arteta needs to win something next season, it kind of follows he needs to be looking like he's gonna win something by Christmas.
I would still harbour doubts about removing a coach who gets us to a high 80s- 90+ points total, but I do also understand we need to get a big one over the line at some point.
Don Pacifico unsurprisingly my view isn't really harsh as others because I do agree with what he's said. But I think elite sports starts do attribute significance to winning that's what drives them to be at the top of their game so him having those views I don't think it's that usual. The people at the top of any sport are unlikely to view being amongst the top contenders as the outcome they seek, that's what competitive sport is about

The issue is someone strongly associated with us, publicly shitting on the people currently working at the club. I don't think it does anything to improve the situation.
The only interesting part of Henry's appearance was a casual comment that went a bit unnoticed.

That's more to do with the personality of the players right? Lots of foreign Arsenal players in the late-90s and early-2000s have spoken about how intense and physical the back four and Martin Keown were in training, and how they used training sessions to give our new fancy dans the same treatment they'd get at Bolton or Wimbledon.
To be fair to the current crop, Big Gabi's response to Merino getting signed was to say "Think you're Arsenal quality? Let's see how Arsenal quality you are with a broken shoulder tough guy"

Henry talks about football like Musashi talks about swordplay. This tells you exactly why he was born to be a killer or an artist, not a manager.
Arteta is the best manager in Europe. Folk don’t realise just how good we are yet we aren’t his finished article.
Basically we will be at an elite level all the while he is at the helm. Major accomplishments will eventually be achieved. Granted you need the rub of the green at times, but even repeating our current level season over season and the law of probability indicates trophies will be secured.
