Mirth Yeah the entertainment value is improved with the removal of "home and away versus PSV". The range of opponents might contribute to greater variation of results.

I predict if we open our account with a solid win over PSG we'll do well.

Doesn't look a bad draw for us. Reasonable mix of supposed "stronger" and "weaker" teams and no nightmare long away trips with the Shakthar one being at home. Can remember the early 2000s when we often seemed to play them or Kiev etc and Bergkamp couldn't go.

Can't complain when consider what some of the other teams have ended up with.

We got the middle of the Pot 1 opponents. Could have been much worse or just marginally better.
Low end of Pot 2. Could have been much, much worse.
Middle of Pot 3
High end of Pot 4 but Girona are not the same team they were last season and we should have too much for Monaco at home.

Fair draw.

For some reason (TV?) we're playing away to Atalanta on Thursday before City away Sunday, while City play at home on Wednesday.

Play complete 2nd team v Atalanta, we can afford to throw one game (worst case scenario). City much, much more important.

Three fucking away fixtures in a row including Europe with one of the games on Thursday and the other two against our PL rivals and local rivals.

In November it's the same thing. 3 away fixtures in a row including Newcastle away, Chelsea away and Inter away. On the bright side we aren't playing on a Thursday that week 😂

No matter how they change the format you can rest assured it'll always fuck us has hard as possible.

Qwiss we should do enough to get into top 16. I think we have more to lose in dropping points in the league than in the champions league. We will get two more champions league games later, but let’s deal with it then if we must.

Claudius yeah I actually think we'll get top 16 very easily and I'd be tempted to target that rather than stretching ourselves pushing extra hard for top 8.

Qwiss true, but iirc 16th faces 8th, 15th faces 9th etc so we would want to avoid a difficult tie there as well.
