Clrnc you need contingencies though. If Kane gets his leg snapped in the first game you still want 2 proper strikers in the squad. Sure one may not play much all going well but if Kane goes down both will be important.

Branthwaite and White are big omissions in that squad, maybe Sancho too. Otherwise it's quite a refreshing selection; will watch England with interest at this tourney now for sure.

Didn't watch the match but am hearing of a Foden and Palmer stinker! Put those two on the bench and get the star boys like Bellingham and Saka to handle the business. Defensively am hearing looked ropey and CM issues.

Qwiss Also you'd think Toney is nailed down as a penalty taker even if he may not get many other minutes so that's something to plan for. I'm not usually a fan of sending someone on for a shootout who hasn't otherwise touched the ball in the tournament though - see Rashford and Sancho last time.

well they're appealing to their audience. giving the people what they want.

I feel like I been gaslit, all this while I thought Pascal Gros was Belgian.

I really don’t rate Foden. Think he’s good. But can’t fuck with real Gs like Saka and Bellers.

Said it before, but Foden's game relies on being able to float around with a bit less attention to get off his spectacular strikes. Saka is often operating at the other end of the spectrum, so he's used to grafting for extremely narrow windows of opportunity.

Claudius Agreed, his best quality is his finishing. Rest of his game isn't top tier imo.

Gazza M you wouldn't think they did judging by the coverage. saka getting the same treatment sterling did

Something Saka and Sterling both have in common, I wonder what....

Gazza M Holy fuck, just had a look at this ... tell you what if you didn't think there was a press conspiracy this would be inclined to make you believe it. Especially after the treatment of that penalty shootout

Clrnc maybe should have left out one striker for Sancho. One of Watkins or Toney is not going to get any minutes

Agreed and I think Branthwaite should have been in the squad as well.

Two of Bowen, Toney & Watkins should have been dropped imo. It isn't about the quality of the player but about maximising the different profiles in the squad. Those three players are all top quality but how many minutes are they really gonna get?

Burnwinter so I think Foden is elite at two things. Off the ball movement and striking.
The reason I don’t think these translate well to England is City’s players spend hours practising their movement and possession. Southgate doesn’t have that luxury. That also means he won’t create as many opportunities for Foden to shoot in good positions.

Claudius I mean these are friendlies so they aren't playing some of the main guys at the moment I'm sure Bellingham and Saka will be involved.

            Gazza M

saw Darren Lewis call the English media out for this. Also a ton of people blaming Mainoo for the goal.

            Geez I wonder why...

they had options, they chose to sign up for this racist shit for commercial reasons. nigeria would love saka (they still do even though he rejected them). mainoo could be playing for ghana.

stop rewarding racist people with your talents.

              Agree with Ian Wright

A bit off topic but I do hate this phrase "gas lit" which seems to have crept into everyday conversations.
