Hahahaha, I know what you mean, I threw him in as a punt and had the same reaction as you when he came up. The 2012 Euros I think were my absolute nadir as an englishman, I had no interest in England at that tournament at all and was glad when Pirlo panenkaed us out of it.
Big Dave is part of my favourite two minutes of Euro football ever, but obviously that penalty save (leading to the Gazza goal) would have hit different for me.
