Clrnc yeah I am happy enough with those 2 signings in their own right but Merino isn't the sort of mid I was hoping for and I would want to see us add some real quality elsewhere if we aren't getting that marquee midfielder in.
Qwiss I think we are missing a trick not going for Oriley of Celtic but Merino is good enough for me as we don't seem to have the money and maybe we are saving for the blockbuster attacker? Merino reminds me a lot of Arteta. Solid midfielder, not world class but dependable enough.

Yeah. I was going to say the same. This isn't even cheap and deep midfield is the one position on the field where we're already really old and need to get much younger. I don't really get this aside from Arteta being a freak who wants us to win every header.

I don't think that is enough, we are one injury out of those four and we will be short. Imo we need a quick player and someone else who can be bought in to push our current players and also take some of their minutes. Saka was running on fumes at the end of the season.
And they are also signing Carlos Soler now to replace Merino for around 15m euros. That's quite good value for them
