Sicario2 he was excellent for 2 seasons running, and is having a tough season interrupted by injury. outside of man city, there's no attacking mids in the league that are relentlessly consistent year on year. you'd think he'd get the benefit of doubt by now

lorddulaarsenal he didn’t actually. In those days, there were no advanced metrics. You just goals and assists. If you didn’t watch the games you wouldn’t know what he was contributing. Messi, David Villa, Fabregas, Henry etc were the goals/assists guys. Iniesta kept things ticking.

Claudius When Øde plays well we win by several goals, and if we win by several goals his contributions aren't telling because we don't need them when we win by several goals. It's the vicious circle of a creative hub of a team.

Plenty of time for his game to develop but at the moment Ethan looks like a front three player than a middle three player. I'm not sure he's quick enough to nail down a front three spot though so maybe he'll be developed into an 8/10. Reminds me of Wilshere in that regard a bit.

I think Ethan needs to be as close to goal as possible with his finishing ability. Arteta's idea of turning him into a striker seems good to me.

Gazza M that's putting it mildly. I could understand people who don't watch us every week having this kind of limited understanding of Ode but if our own fans don't rate him it'd make you question their understanding of the game altogether.

Qwiss Saka is a lot more consistent and has proven it a lot more in big games domestically and Europe than Ode (appreciate they play in different positions).

Saka can play anywhere as he's proven. Nwaneri either needs to learn to play elsewhere, or to play so well in Saka's position that we try something else with Saka. Either of those things happens, we're in great shape with the two of them.

I'd love to see Nwaneri learn left 8. Being strong on his left foot would be no disadvantage there.

Odegaard has created more scoring chances than any other player in the league over the last few seasons. Calling him a "nearly man" or questioning his influence only suggests we don't have the right players (forwards) around him, not that he can't do it.

My only concern with him was that he went hiding vs Liverpool multiple times two seasons back. He addressed that last year with far better performances.

Not fussed where he puts them but get Saka, Ethan and Ode the pitch at the same time and real good shit will happen.

Having said that, would really like to see Ethan and Odegaard as the 2 attacking mids, at least in the easier game... having a 'functional' 8 all the time can get pretty dull.
