Well the pressure succeed will see if it has any impact to the democrats. The world could really do without a trump presidency but it's not clear what they alternative offer is at the moment. Hopefully they find someone who can appear credible to the country.
2024 US Election
Obama knows...

Obama is a coward, he never takes a stance in a tricky spot. No surprise there.
Don't have high hopes for Kamala but a loss in 24 might let the Dems reset a bit as a party. There is an old guard that desperately needs to be cleared out, and they have no up and coming candidates whatsoever.
harris is a cop and she isnt great on the whole, but a bag of doorknobs has a better chance against trump than biden did.
also, this
CPM i disagree to an extent.
beshear
shapiro
whitmer
pritzker
all young enough to make a difference. what we truly need is people like pelosi, schumer, hoyer and obama to just fuck off and retire/stay away. let the party grow, get back to fucking organizing and building grassroots support in every single state instead of catering to the donor class who are 50/50 to either not vote or vote for a republican anyway because they dont want to pay taxes
mdgoonah41 Yeah, we're on the same page, even if I'm never going to get delirious about the Democrats. All of those names you mention should be higher profile at this point. With a proper competitive primary Whitmer would have a good chance at being the nominee IMO – pro-labor governor of a midwestern swing state, who has actually shown a modicum of governing competence. But we're stuck with this cabal of octogenarians and Hamptons centimillionaires who hate democracy and want to pull the strings themselves.

Qwiss I think it probably will, Trump has been even more pro Israel overtly, he has talked about pressuring Ukraine to give Putin what he wants and signalling to abandon Taiwan. That will create more instability in the world and that's not including his radicalising further the extreme right. There may not be perfect options in the world but there are certainly worse ones in my view and trump is very much that.
shapiro endorsed kamala right out of the gate. i think he'd like that VP spot.
Burnwinter This is depressingly accurate. I wish it weren't. I had written but deleted a much longer reply. Humanity has unleashed forces and created systems that are now inevitable. A lot of people (myself included) have just stopped caring.
in the last 8 days, someone tried to assassinate trump and biden was subbed out of the presidential race. what a time to be alive.
They're going with Kamala because they know they're losing this one. Keeping the better candidates on hold for 2028.

lmao actblue got $50m in donations in 8 hours. dems were desperate for literally anyone but biden that they donated $50m to a cop that no one really liked until 8 hours ago
kamikaze Harris will lose badly because she'll run an "action figure" fanfic campaign. "I prosecuted bad guys!" as per her 2020 campaign material. You can't run such a campaign without showing just as much of the "action figure" that is Trump.
It's shameful for the Democrats how much they've fostered this situation in which Donald Trump, of all people, is absolutely hosing them on class war and "elites" rhetoric.
This is the entropic endpoint of the horse-trading concessional "safe pair of hands" politics we see with (for example) Starmer and Albanese. For the Democrats, a popular platform and leadership that creates its own media energy separate from Trump-phobia is vital.
I saw an interview Bill Maher did with Buttigieg the other day that went viral. I've got no great love for Maher or Buttigieg but it's the only rhetoric I've heard in recent times from a Democrat that seems likely to cut through.
Buttigieg was quizzed about Silicon Valley and Thiel's influence on JD Vance, and just responded something like: "Let's not overcomplicate it, Silicon Valley billionaires may well have their private desires, but they'll support Trump because they're very rich men and the Republican Party is the party whose agenda benefits very rich men."
kamikaze Good to see you on here by the way Kami. As far as western electoral politics goes, the terms are already outdated, but I reckon I've been "blackpilled" for about a decade and I'm getting close to "grillpilled" as the farce goes on.
One vegetable out the way, the next vegetable about to take power. People used to laugh at African countries being ruled by lunatics but how is this any better ffs
Rest of the planet looks on in hopes Cheeto in chief drops the nuclear football in the White House.
Harris will win the election
