      HomeSteak the fact that he doesn't seem to know is precisely why it's so bad. If he were more self aware, that would make him more aware in general, and he wouldn't have this problem.

                banduan I'm not that invested in US politics, but I'd see it as a disaster if Trump won. That "Project 2025" agenda with a hand-picked list of thousands of wingnuts to replace current bureaucrats sounds like it would kneecap the United States' already crippled state capacity.

                I'm not genuinely arguing for a wee bit of "involuntary assisted dying", but if this absurd impasse goes on ... I heard vaguely today that if Biden stands down, the Biden team has to willingly volunteer to redistribute its campaign funds to Democrat committees in order for them to back whichever other candidate ... it's a wild system they call democracy apparently ...

                  its funny that really the entire direction of the united states might have been impacted by that short video of hillary stumbling getting into that van at the 9/11 service when it was 1 billion degrees outside. that was when all the insanity around her really ramped up and her lead in the polls leveled off.

She seems more "all there" than he does, and more than most, can probably see the aging and stress the 4 years of holding the Presidency has laid on him. Yet she's still encouraging him to run and saying he's doing great, at least publicly. To whose benefit?

                      My old man is a retired academic and has had a cognitive decline as the result of two mini-strokes in the past couple of years. A few months ago I had to advise my mum to stop lining him up with such confidence to meet a visiting Japanese academic who admires his work. He's bound to a walking frame, struggles to draft an email, and forgets a word or two in complex sentences, but she understandably doesn't want to think about it.

                      My dad's a few years younger than Biden, though. Biden simply shouldn't be there. It's no job for an eighty year old. It's a farcical situation.

                        mdgoonah41 I reckon taking the the rust belt states for granted had a bigger impact. bernie beating her in Michigan in the 2016 primaries should've set off some major alarm bells, but she barely visited there. there was a very VERY late visit to Michigan with Bill, the bidens and the obamas after they saw how bad the poll numbers were going into the final week before the election, but it was too late by then. even taking into account hiw uniquely unpopular she was, there was additional bag fumbling involved which made her actually lose

Some poor person in the crowd has been shot and killed, others may be injured, Trump is basically unhurt but managed to get a bloody-cheeked photo op during his escape to safety, and all they'll print about the shooter is "the shooter is dead", even though the shooter seems to have been a sniper hundreds of metres away.

                            It's almost a plausible prequel to Alex Garland's CIVIL WAR.
