This guy is usually quite accurate as well, this is a major cover up and it is a disgrace how long they have been covering for this. If that horror show didn't happen at the debate all these Democrats would be pretending like nothing was wrong.
2024 US Election

if they try changing candidates republicans will file state lawsuits to stop the new candidate from getting on the ballot anyway. it's going to be biden. who knows, corporate media flipping on him so brazenly might create the unlikeliest of underdog narratives. still a few months left for trump and his extremists to trip over their dicks

What's the provision if Biden dies, out of curiosity? Harris has to run?
Burnwinter don't think so. AFAIK the party can pick whoever they like. They can also switch up on him at the convention too if I understand it correctly.
Would've thought there'd be some contingency plan for if the candidate gets shot, indicted or declared mentally unfit ... certainly seem to be real aggregate risks about a lot of the candidates who get put up in the US system
Apparently if he dies before the convention the delegates would pick who ran but if he dies after it the DNC decides.
Not to be macabre, but Biden dying peacefully in his sleep round about now would be the best outcome possible for the Dems.
I was feeling bad for him before, but not now...I mean, he must know how bad he is right? He should have stepped down a long time ago

Thing is when people start to go mentally, they aren't fully aware themselves what is happening. This is where loved ones should step in and make the call. In this case Jill Biden is digging in even more as it seems she quite enjoys her role as First Lady.

We're planning assassinations now Burnsy?
banduan I'm not that invested in US politics, but I'd see it as a disaster if Trump won. That "Project 2025" agenda with a hand-picked list of thousands of wingnuts to replace current bureaucrats sounds like it would kneecap the United States' already crippled state capacity.
I'm not genuinely arguing for a wee bit of "involuntary assisted dying", but if this absurd impasse goes on ... I heard vaguely today that if Biden stands down, the Biden team has to willingly volunteer to redistribute its campaign funds to Democrat committees in order for them to back whichever other candidate ... it's a wild system they call democracy apparently ...
its funny that really the entire direction of the united states might have been impacted by that short video of hillary stumbling getting into that van at the 9/11 service when it was 1 billion degrees outside. that was when all the insanity around her really ramped up and her lead in the polls leveled off.
Ugh, they should've just elected Sanders four years ago.
is what I was about to write before I realized he's even older than Biden. It truly is an old man's game.
Sanders is still lucid though. People are acting like this Biden stuff has come out of nowhere but the signs of this were apparent 4 years ago, its just gotten steadily worse over time as these things tend to.
They're all geriatric. Corbyn too.
George Clooney came out against Biden the other day, he could be ideal late-breaking presidential campaign fodder, but his wife planning to indict Netanyahu might rule him out ... and I imagine his dirt file is fairly long as well.
Mirth Under the circumstances, what might be a pretty normal emotional response to your partner's incipient cognitive decline could still appear to be stonewalling to another person.
My old man is a retired academic and has had a cognitive decline as the result of two mini-strokes in the past couple of years. A few months ago I had to advise my mum to stop lining him up with such confidence to meet a visiting Japanese academic who admires his work. He's bound to a walking frame, struggles to draft an email, and forgets a word or two in complex sentences, but she understandably doesn't want to think about it.
My dad's a few years younger than Biden, though. Biden simply shouldn't be there. It's no job for an eighty year old. It's a farcical situation.
