Kiwior probably someone we need to look at the summer window. Clearly a talent but he has been here for a year and don't really think he has improved as much as I would have hoped.

JazzG depends on what we get offered. He's alright as CB cover and he can do a job at LB when you are stuck. Can we replace him for the same price and wage we lose him? If not I'm not sure there is much point doing a deal.

Qwiss I think if we get similar to what we paid we should move him on. He is taking up a foreign player slot and considering how little he has played or been needed I'd rather we go and sign a good young prospect who might in the future offer a chance of breaking through.

I think with the way things are Kiwor's price is only going to decrease.

He also isn't going to improve if he never gets minutes in his preferred position. Unless we don't trust him, I don't understand why he hasn't had more game time at CB.

gabriel doesn't need rest so he doesn't play. center back is one of those positions where you keep numbers in case of emergency. you don't really need to rotate them. ben white and a more reliable tomi would be perfect CB backups because they can play full back the majority of the time.

Meatwad that's fine but if you're never going to play him, then you probably bring in a different profile of CB if you're never going to play him. He's clearly still developing.

Kiwior is absolutely fine as a 3rd choice backup. Nothing more. Just don't play him at LB man

oh i agree, it's stupid to sign a still developing player in a position where he won't get game time. but that's arteta's m.o. "gimme gimme gimee"

I don't think signing Kiwior was stupid at all. I don't particularly rate the kid but I think its the profile to bring in for that role. He's come in, played a decent amount, albeit mostly at fullback, and he hasn't really caught fire. Give him another season, he'll still only be 24 so you should be able to sell for the same or more than you paid. Better plan than signing a mid level PL 28 year old for the same money and then getting nothing in 2-3 years. If you keep repeating that process eventually one of them will come good too and push their way into the side. As a transfer and squad building strategy I like that. Now it all falls apart if we keep making a mess of our sales but that's a separate issue really.

It's easy to dismiss Kiwior when he's behind the best centre back partnership in the league. If Gabriel and Saliba hadn't settled into such a robust and well-functioning pairing, Kiwior's experience may have been much different. He's personally suffered significantly from one of the truly great aspects we've benefitted from in the last year or so.

It's a difficult call with the third/fourth choice centre back behind such a strong pair. Do you go with developing youth who have mistakes in them (Kiwior), average but happy to settle (Holding) or seasoned professionals who may cost a packet? When you've got squad players who can rotate like White and Tomiyasu I'd take the chance on players like Kiwior all day long.

I think Kiwior has looked fine, and I'd trust him to come in for a few games if need be. That's all you can really ask for a 3rd choice centre back.

Considering how young Saliba and Gabriel are I don't think we should be worrying about that for years. Unless ofcourse we decide to ship one of them out randomly, or they refuse to sign a contract.

Kiwior, much as I don't think he's all that special, is pretty decent considering he's only ever going to be needed in emergencies or in the last few minutes of games where we go 5 at the back. He's decently fast, has decent amount of strength and is a decently good passer. You'd be hard pressed to improve upon decent when your first choice are so good and generally so fit.

What profile of player are you looking to replace him with then? I'm assuming with your mention of a foreign player slot you're looking at someone English? In which case I expect the premium you'd pay would likely exceed any value loss for Kiwior. And for any significant improvement on him you're talking a fat wedge of cash which could arguably be better spent in other areas of the team.

JazzG He has played like 150 minutes for them all season, I assume they are after some money compensation to let him go. They don't need him, rate him or play him...so it makes no sense that they want to keep him.
