Yeah, wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that we can't improve our efficiency in how we allocate funds.

    Don Pacifico we can.
But Don, please quickly look at the various teams in the league. Look at what they spent last couple of years. Then look at how mech they’ve used the acquired players, and improvements achieved.

One thing to remember as you do this is there are diminishing returns to spending the higher up the league you go, in terms of season-to-season impact on points.

I’d be surprised if we aren’t top 2. Yes, teams can always improve, but how are we relative to peers?

Of course we have made many mistakes in the transfer windows over the years. That's undeniable.

But I do feel we have learned from those mistakes over the years (which might be necessary with a rookie coach and DOF) and has slowly improved. It made the "process" for us probably a year longer but at least we have reached there. Now it's all about fine tuning the squad.

By all accounts it seems like Edu is a genius by the way. It seems like Arteta always prefers PL players and Edu prefers gambles from overseas. It's quite a good combination.

Clrnc and they learned. Their first forays into the market were for guys like the legend Willian. Quick fixes. They’ve moved on. That’s all you ask. Are you learning from your mistakes and moving on.
The big test for Edu is still sales. Hopefully, the new rules give teams comfort that they can invest in players this summer.

Claudius I take your point about diminishing returns but without going in the numbers again, last time I checked, Liverpool's outlay (or at least net spend) looked superior to ours in terms of return.

Let's not forget near misses either like Project Mudryk. And I get, Chelsea are a different club but the money touted for a guy with his experience was next level crazy.

My point is that being 65% efficient is great success in an inherently unefficient market.

daredevil the percentage for clubs that manage to reach the PL is almost as small, so we should actually be happy with everything that's happened the last few decades.

We won 5 titles, 2 Doubles, won our first major European trophy, reached our first ever CL final, moved to a new stadium, survived on a thin budget to become one of the most valuable clubs in the world, had some of the finest players ever don our shirts, survived our greatest manager and have emerged from the ashes like a phoenix to compete again at the highest level. You best believe I am happy.

daredevil I'm saying that whenever you've been unhappy - if you've ever been unhappy about anything Arsenal-related in your entire life - that unhappiness would still have been about something that most clubs never achieve.

daredevil If City win the league I'll try to remember that other clubs also don't win the league and the sadness will hopefully go away.

Well done to David Raya for winning the golden glove. First time an Arsenal keeper has done it for 8 years.

Don Pacifico this guy is superb. Commanding in the air. And comes out to manage things as well. Like having a third centre back at times. So weird to see him all the way at the halfway line at times.
