Rohit I am honestly stunned at how we are moving in the transfer market. After years of being made to wait till the very end of the window, this is so refreshing. Well done AFC.

We have been splashing and behaving like a big club for quite awhile now even without European football income. It feels so good. Kudos to Kroenkes for restructuring the loans, writing off the losses from failed transfers and giving us big budgets one after another.

Basically we are finally conforming to the transfer window games. Wenger will never allow this if he's in charge

I really would expect us to sign someone if Partey goes and hope that's why the links to Lavia persist.

For both sporting/non-sporting reasons, I think Partey should go but have to bring in another midfielder if he does.

Let's not kid ourselves, for sporting reasons Partey should absolutely stay. The only reason to really push Partey out is because of non sporting reasons, which is a pretty valid reason. Aside from that I'd only consider selling if we get offered a stupid amount of money (which i doubt we will).

Big Willie honestly, I've said it for a while...I think he's been a disappointing signing versus the expectation I had for him. Granted his showings on the pitch were pretty strong last season but prior to this I don't think he was that reliable (either in terms of performance or fitness). I don't think that's enough (ie. One good season out of three) and he's only getting older in a physically demanding position in a physically demanding league.

If you can actually get legit money for an injury-prone 30 year old (which the rumors suggest we would be able to do), then you need to take it.

If that were to happen we'd have to seriously consider it. Though I think its very unlikely we'd get such an offer.

Guess so. You may think €20-30m+ is worth selling him for but I don't see anyone coming in for that sort of money and giving us anywhere near what he can. 20-30m nowadays gets you either a middling older player or a young project player with potential who probably isn't going to be ready for a couple years.

For me I'd be tempted only if an offer comes in which allows us to then go and use the majority of the proceeds to buy someone on par (which will be very hard to find even with a boatload of money) or a younger player who is not far off with room to grow.

I don't really get this. Declan Rice is the guy who is "coming in". It would be one in one out for a position that we already have at least adequate numbers for (arguably one too many players depending on how you think about Elneny). You really don't need 8000 defensive midfielders when your first-choice defensive midfielder isn't made out of glass. Right now we have three expensive players for one spot (Rice, Partey and Jorginho). It is actively burning a hole in our pocket to not get rid of one of them. I would've thought that we would keep Partey and get rid of Jorginho but the noise from the club is the exact opposite. I guess that's fine, arguably.

Selling for £25m+ has to be considered if it frees up funds and space to bring in someone like Lavia. Maybe a bit of short term loss but the smart play in the medium to long term especially if there’s no prospect of a new deal.

Jorge has one more year then will leave on a free (or stay at a lower wage). If Partey goes we want to pick up someone for the future. Unless of course Tchouaméni is actually available.
