Nah, this was his best game. Look, I’ve said he was shit from day 1 and hated his body language but today he was clearly up for it so can’t fault him.

Tbh he couldn’t hide in a game like this when he was coming in for our captain. He simply had to perform. I am more worried how he will do in a small game like Burnely at home.

The problem is this may well be his best performance but it's not enough for the money shelled out on him. He needed to be directly contributing to an attacking sense and he hasn't done that. His best game is yeah he's sort of okay without doing anything.

I agree, there is some creative and goalscoring burden on him and overall he's not doing enough on that front.

Clrnc sure, but it may be an indicator that he's gaining a bit in confidence and figuring out his role. I took thought this was a better game for him. Sure it wasn't prime Odegaard but I think he was a lot less passive and was involved in some decent interplay.

Still got it all to prove but his performance was one of the small positives to take out of this game.

Jesus which game was his worst if people are saying this was his "best?" Like Raya, the signing never made any sense and it's looking like being a massive flop. And given he was a massive flop at Chelsea it's hardly any surprise how it's turning out. The bar was low for signings from Chelsea yet astonishingly we've managed to lower it from even Willian.

Goal probability added is basically a sum assigned to each player based on whether each involvement increase or decrease the probability of a goal being scored. It's an interesting (and flawed) indicator, and I don't think I've ever seen a player in the ten position have by far the lowest number in a match. It basically supports what everyone is saying in here. Havertz' involvements on the ball are negative. When he's on the ball, the probability of scoring is reduced.

As for the eye test, I can't stand his poor close control, sloppy passing, and overly cautious decision making.

It depends what you value in midfield, it was one of his worst games in terms of passing and possession.

I rather Havertz plays like yesterday ie fully on it and committed then having a fake good game with meaningless possession and bs sideway passes stats.

Play Havertz v Sevilla and let him build on his game.

i didn't really have a big beef with him based on previous standards. he fought. he's not good enough from an attacking perspective, but i didn't think he was a fighter, but maybe i'll be wrong about him actually having attacking talent and he'll come around there as well. i hate having to hope that i'm missing something with a 65m player.

His pass completion was poor yesterday but it was a consequence of him actually taking risks and playing with more bravery. It was a stark contrast to the cowardly 5-yard backward layoffs we had seen from him for most of the season.

From a creative perspective, it's still not good enough and we expect more, however he is clearly making improvements.

In other news, Xhaka at Leverkusen has completed more final third passes than any other player in the Bundesliga whilst topping the table. Should have just kept him for another season.

I am not sure performances in the Bundesliga can be used for too much because the league is generally low quality.

For Havertz if we spent 20m on a chance then I think you would allow a bit more space. But he was bought in at a price to make an offensive contribution assists or goals right now. He's nowhere near doing that. His end product was questionable at Chelsea and I don't see what is going to change with us.

Missed the match yesterday so that’s the first I’ve seen of his performance. Looked to me like he had a good game.

I like him. Sure he’s lacking confidence and is adjusting to our style but I can definitely see the potential.

Our front three was the problem yesterday.
