given what some of their fans have said about him, absolutely.

It looks like Arteta might make him the left-sided Odegaard Viera was meant to be. Just like Martin, despite his appearance his defensive numbers are well up there.

Wasn't a signing I felt we needed and with the price we've shelled out not massively happy because I think we have other priorities in the team. However will see how he gets on, no idea from his time at Chelsea what his best position is or how he'll fit into Arsenal but we'll need him to perform right away

Let's hope Arteta's plan for him works and we see the Kai Havertz that was promised during his time with Bayer.

I am not convinced that the plan is for him to play as a left sided 10 or 8. I think he's been bought for the front three and as a rotating option with Jesus and cover for Ode.

Waste of money signing. One hopes we dont miss out on a Caicedo or Rice because we dumped £60 million on Kai Havertz.

Spent a bit of time on a Chelsea forum going through his thread in the period between Jan-23 and May-23 before they knew he'd be leaving for us and it still doesn't make for pretty reading. Most would have been happy to see him go for way less than what we have now paid and almost none still rated him as an option. This move would have been fantasy stuff for most on that forum during that period.

It's a bit frustrating but Arteta and co. got it right with Ramsdale, White, Zinchenko and Jesus when large portions of the fan base were sceptical so let's see on this one.

The highs if it works out will be glorious and the lows will be painful. Amazing to get one over Chelsea or horrible to be seen as being Chelsea's bitch and dumping ground once again.

Fans on the whole are also pretty superficial, they won’t be looking at what he brings to the team or what he can bring to the team, they’ll be looking at the chances he misses and will say good riddance. Jesus has suffered a similar hit despite mostly being great for us this season.

Chelsea are losing 3 players who are moving to better placed rivals and the fans are celebrating.

Not sure about that, he missed tons of chances before the injury as well.

I always thought he was a wasted talent at Chelsea, really hope we can get the best out of him.

He has it all technically. I think the missing big chances is a mental/confidence thing that he can overcome.

Assume he is our new left 8 and would expect him to match Xhaka's output from that position (though a little worried about the defensive side).

He is used to the league, works hard out of possession, reliable in terms of availability and most importantly wants to be here.

I think he will do well and he will have our support all the way!

He has his qualities, most of them shown before he went to chelsea and in the very rare Chelsea game, often in Europe. I'd say he's the opposite of "PL proven" though, what he's shown in the PL goes against him. If Arteta sees something all those Chelsea managers didn't and gets him playing to a level where he looks like a £60m player then he'll have done a brilliant job.

He's been a key starting player at one of the top teams in the league under multiple managers for three seasons now. He hasn't exploded the way people expected but he's definitely proven in this league

I think this is one thing people are forgetting. He did not set the world on fire, but he was pretty decent. And having to contend with so many managers over that time is quite unsettling for a player. If he is on a team that is more settled and have an actual plan, he may show much better. At least that is what I am hoping.

I would think of "proven" meaning he's proven he can do well in the league. He's proven the opposite so far.

It's a big call from Arteta so hopefully he has big plans for him.

He has done well in the league, he just hasn't become of the very elite 9s in the league. He's a good player as evidenced by him continuing to get his game at Chelsea for 3 years now. If he's not PL proven then the vast majority of players in the league aren't proven either. Nearly every team in the league would put him into their starting eleven next August if they could
