Huge game, one of our biggest in years. On Sunday we take on a team 29 points and 7 places behind us in the table. Why are we all terrified?

I guess there's lot of good reasons to be afraid, but having watched them recently and over the last two games in particular, I can't help but feel confident that we'll win. Either way, I can't wait.

One early reports that Saliba will not be back in time for this, which most likely means Holdinho will carry on at CB. I personally wouldn't try a 'fancy' solution.

Team picks itself for me even if some will think Trossard deserves to start. But I'd go with this:

White - Holding - Gabriel - Zinchenko

Ode - Partey - Xhaka

Saka - Jesus - Martinelli

I predict a 3-1 win for us.

I'm not. But I reckon there's a fair bit of play in the result here. If we're in it at half time, we'll win. The result will mainly be about composure and focus.

It says quite a bit about our options that Saka won PL's player of the month while Trossard won Arsenal's player of the month. I agree with your team, but Trossard has probably done as well as the others.

I guess not so much terrified, but expecting the worst since it's been a long time since we've got anything there and usually get embarrassed. Wins there always feel a bit special but can't remember the last time. Even a draw here would be a big result.

There could be some temptation to keep Trossard in the side given his recent form, and also the possible psychological impact as he's scored a hattrick there this season. But it would mean leaving out Martinelli or Jesus so wouldn't expect it.

Whilst I think we've turned a massive corner under Arteta in terms of mentality and resilience, I've still got the fear that we're Arsenal and we give down-on-their-luck teams a good opportunity to revitalise their season. I had hoped we were past that but the Everton game suggests otherwise, even if it was with the added new manager bounce, and I worry that's what is in store at Anfield too.

I'm less worried about Liverpool, and more concerned about our own approach, intensity and complacency.

Tam I don't think intensity and complacency are going to be an issue on Sunday - this is a serious team we are watching now. That isn't to say that we'll win, as I wrote for Daily Cannon yesterday, Anfield exerts its own gravitational pull and much will depend on how our players are able to deal with it. Funnily, enough the fact that Klopp rested players for the game gives me some confidence - this isn't something he would have worried about last season.

I also think that, whilst our horrific recent record in the North West generally - and Liverpool specifically - are reasons for concern, I'd be wary of drawing too many conclusions from that Everton game. The stars were aligned for the hosts that day and they executed their game plan to perfection. God, I hope they go down!

If we don't perform it won't be intensity or complacency but simply being consumed by the occasion. As amazing as he's been we've seen Gabriel lose emotional control in some games and there's a few others who have that in them too. We need to just keep cool and play our usual game and not try too hard to win.

What gives me confidence though is the front line and midfield. Most of those guys don't get flustered.

Not sure this is the game you’ll get a match winning performance from Partey. Not to say I think he’ll disappoint, but Liverpool don’t really play through their midfield and I don’t see Partey man marking Salah/Nunez out wide.

Who I would like to see a match winning performance from us Odegaard. He should have it favorable coming up against a lagging Fabinho and whoever else’s they check out.

Interesting to see whether Paul Tierney fixes this game like he did when we faced Spurs in May '22. Klopp hates him so it may cancel out.

Since we lost at Old Trafford, this is the victory I want most. Irrespective of the title outcome, it would be a good unlock this achievement, to end the winless run at Anfield, and to get a double over Klopp.

To Burns' sense from a couple days back, I think Liverpool will be right up for this. The rotation last night was a slight reveal of hand. In the last 2-3 head to heads, this Arsenal team has started to express its quality and realise more of its potential. The tide has been turning and a Liverpool loss here could underscore the end of their cycle and a good heat check of ours. In terms of pubic perception, not mine necessarily. More than that, I think the Liverpool community is a bit envious, insecure? Just think back to 'what do you think they are smoking over there?' episode, the Firmino contract clause.

goon this is literally their cup final, no other real games of note left for them. If we play our usual away style game we should have them.

A solid point's a win here, and hurts City plenty in my opinion. Us winning would be demoralising for them and would make the Etihad a must win—for them.

Imagine the bone deep joy of rolling over Liverpool at Anfield, then arm-wrestling City into cracking up at home. A little unlikely perhaps, but that would be some statement.
