This contract is less about Arteta or Edu than Nelson himself, I think. Retaining Nelson as a second string forward when he's being courted by other serious clubs is a financial no-brainer.

What's good about this is it seems Nelson's staying on out of loyalty to Arsenal and a personal ambition to succeed at Arsenal—two things a lot of young players who've gone through it like him wouldn't have.

I really like the situation as he has everything to prove but he'll know he has to. He's entering his prime, there are some hints his attitude is more serious, and he may well find another level.

Qwiss it's right for us but I'm not convinced it's right for Reiss' long-term career. If you're 23 and looking to push on in your career, you should be looking to play more often. Eddie basically only played when Jesus was injured.

Don Pacifico yeah I think he should be somewhere he'll start but it's his decision. If he gets the minutes Eddie has had this season I think that's about all he can expect. Unless he goes out and takes Martinellis spot. Maybe he thinks he can.

I like him filling in for Saka. Next year I would go after a big centre forward and also use Jesus more on the wing.

Interesting that in the Forest and Wolves games, Jesus spent a lot of really good minutes at right wing. I wonder if Arteta is just eager to see how Saka and Trossard fare in central spaces, or if he would get a target man as well

I think Arteta just likes a bit of rotation in game to counter what happened against Newcastle and Everton where our wide boys got stifled and we became a little predictable. We saw it regularly with Martinelli and Jesus/Trossard swapping and with the former out I guess he decided Saka was the one to give it a go.

Reckon it makes us less likely we see a target man and more likely we sign players who can play across the front line, either within games or from the get go.

lorddulaarsenal I think him actually physically exploding is more likely than the kind of explosion you're talking about, but let's see. I said before, I can see this deal makes sense for the club (for now anyway), less convinced it's a good move for him.

I'm glad he's staying, but as others have intimated, I'm not sure how this will pan out for his career. he could end up in the willock/AMN/eddie phantom zone, in which case the club still benefits as we'll still get a decent fee for him next season
