Yeah, but I hope the voters see sense on that score. Ah well. This award is meaningless anyway. Time for another bottle of vino.
PFA Player of the Year/ Young Player/ Team of the Season
Logically, as the the only 'young player' to make the main list, Nasri should be a shoe-in for the Young Player of The Year.
Bale made both as well, mate.
Btw, absolutely cannot believe Bale is bookies favourite for Players Player.
The Football Writers award has always been the more meaningful one for me anyway, not that individual awards mean very much.
Edit: so he did Ricky, slipped my mind.
Presuming Nasri won't get it, i hope Parker wins the senior award.
Jack deserves the young player of the year.
Hernandez has probably had a bigger impact than Wilshere this season. He's been fantastic for United.
I really hope Wilshere wins. We need one award this season.
Not sure he has tbh, Wilshere has been key for us. Plus Hernandez is a cunt with a stupid nickname.
Given all the hype he's gotten this year, Bale will win something. I reckon he'll take the young player of the year, even though I'd argue Wilshere has been more consistent.
If Bale wins any award, it will be a bigger travesty than when the awards were turned into lifetime achievement awards to honor Ryan Giggs. Might as well honor Paul Scholes or Titus Bramble this year
If Giggs can win an award bu doing feck all, then its anyones guess!
voted almunia, but anyways seriously almunia should fuck off.
I don't think Nasri deserves the POTY award, but I really do genuinely believe Wilshere wins the YPOTY hands down. Not even close.
I suspect the main award will go to Bale and the young player award will go to Wilshere.
Of course, logic suggests that if Bale wins the former than he should automatically win the latter.
Btw, that these short-lists were determined early is evident in the fact that Nasri is on the main shortlist while Wilshere isn't. It is my humble belief that Wilshere has been Arsenal's player of the season. He may not have had the highs that both van Persie and Nasri enjyoed in short periods, but his body of work over the season has been the most impressive.
There is no one that really stands out as the obvious candidate for the main award, they've all been quiet in the second half of the season, except for maybe Parker and Adam.
Completely agree on Jack for YPotY. Only Hernandez rivals him for that imo, but considering he was a squad player up until recently, can't say it should go to him.
Who you hope'll win and who you'll think will win are two different things.
Being English gives you a massive advantage, so I'd say Bale and Wilshere will win.
But if Man U win the PL & CL and his form keeps improving don't be surprised if Shrek grabs it.
Maybe if we all vote for Al he'll consider it the pinnacle of his career which can't be topped and will retire!
It's voted for in March, mate, and only those on the shortlist can win. Bale and Wilshere are probably favourites for the two awards. Nasri and Vidic probably have a decent chance too of getting the main award ahead of Bale.
Van der saar
Baines
Vidic
Cahill
Sagna
Wilshere
Parker
Modric
Nasri
Tevez
Nani
Excellent team, maybe swap Kompany for Cahill and I don't think it could be improved.
Actually, what about Sagna? He hasn't been great, have any other right backs stood out?
Nah, Sagna has, in general, been awesome this season.
Might still just be annoyed that Jerome Thomas embarrassed him in September. Last six weeks he hasn't been at his best either but I suppose it's been a good season, also doesn't really have much competition for best RB in the Prem.
