Nominees for Player:
Gareth Bale
Charlie Adam
Nemanja Vidic
Carlos Tevez
Samir Nasri
Rafael van der Vaart
Scott Parker

Young Player:
Gareth Bale
Seamus Coleman
Joe Hart (24 next week)
Javier Hernandez
Nani (24)
Samir Nasri (23)
Jack Wilshere

It really hasn't been a stand out season for players. Not sure if any of the nominees for POTY have had outstanding seasons - Vidic or Parker most likely IMO. If Bale wins it because of 2 Champions League games the award will be a joke, VdV's been very average since about November and Spurs' best player Modric hasn't even made the list!

No one player has stood out this year.
I heard a lot of the Guardian writers going on about Bale, and it made me wonder if football writers actually watch a lot of games, because Bale has been 3rd best to vd Vaart and Modric on his own team.

I'd vote Tevez, Parker, Vidic, Nasri in that order.
If Nasri had just kept some form, he would've wrapped this up and the title

Fair enough, didn't know van der Vaart was on the list, it was a 6-man list in the papers last week, and he wasn't on there.

I don't know who I'd give it to, maybe Nasri or Tevez, but it's a really, really poor year. Young player can only go to Jack.

I don't think either of our players have much chance.

This year's nominees is harder to choose from because its quite competitive and no one really stood out.

I'd go for Nasri and Wilshere if we could have won the title

Who's going to win it then?

Pepe, Nani didn't make the main list.

hah, so he didn't. He topped the poll on another forum I was looking at earlier.

Nani's not even in contention for the senior prize.

The only way I see Jack not winning the YPOTY is if they stupidly give it Bale, but because Jack is English, I think he'll get it - and he thoroughly deserves it too.

Vidic or Bale will probably get the senior prize - which is a joke, because neither have been that good (much more so Bale). Then again, neither has anyone else.

Edit - Didn't see Tim's post.

I'd go;

Main award:
1)Parker
2)Tevez
3)Nasri

Young Player:
1)Wilshere
2)Nani
3)Bale

Wilshere is far and away the best young player this season.

Nasri could have won the senior award but his form has tailed off.
I imagine Vidic might win it.

Those are slightly contradicting statements, y va!

Reckon Hernandez might have a crack at BYP, because he does pretty much everything you could hope a young striker would do.

Wilshere should obviously receive the award, but he may not simply because his performances are too good, too adult.

Nani has something like 10 goals and 17 assists this season. I don't think it's quite that straight forward.

😆

Not the clearest few sentences I've ever written!

Should have just said Wilshere for the young player award.

I'd like to see Nasri win the main award but I don't think he will.

Fails on the "being young" factor in my view. He's 24 for fuck's sake ... if he came to Arsenal he'd be one of our oldest players!

Well, I agree. But the rules are the award are what they are!
