The point of Jesus in midfield is his physicality, Trossard, ESR and especially Vieria are too lightweight.

Jesus already plays all over the pitch, it just might benefit us, if the opportunity arises, to have someone world class in the box with a more fixed position. We have Zincenko, Odegaard, Xhaka, and Jesus/Trossard all with license to drift, and when facing the low block they kind of get in each other’s way.

Temo I mean, he could do it, but what you gain from his strength in midfield you lose in the penalty area, and most importantly you lose his ability to score goals.

It's important for the club never to create a situation where Jesus doesn't feel like Arsenal thinks of him as a striker. If we know only one thing about him as a character it's that he's a bit vulnerable to those framings.

Temo I wouldn't want to see Jesus in the midfield personally. I actually think Trossard would be a better fit in that Xhaka role, but I'd rather just focus on developing Vieira/ESR in the midfield and potentially bring in another big name to compete as well. Gabri Veiga is the one I have really been loving recently.

Talks of Jesus in midfield feel completely off base from what Arteta has built there AND what Jesus offers.

The midfielders are carrying out very specific patterns ad nasuem and that's not what you want a talent like Jesus doing. His contribution is best via CF where he presses better than anyone, and also offers the unpredictability that challenges CBs and in turn leaves more spaces for our WFs.

This is going to be a weird summer where almost everyone we bring in will be weaker than the player in their position in the current starting XI. The two positions where we might improve with acquisitions are LCM and RB but that said Xhaka and White have been incredible this season.

Noting this, I'd focus this summer on improving the squad:

Assuming we lose Tierney, I'd like Guerreiro from Dortmund. I think his contract is up and he's been playing CM for Dortmund recently having started the season as a left back. So he should be able to provide what Zinny does when covering for him.
A young winger to compete with and cover for Marti and Saka who have both done enough this season to retain their spots in the first XI.
I think Holding is done here based on our current style. He's just too slow so we will need to new capable 3rd choice who is young and has potential to be first choice if we ever lose Saliba/Gabriel to one of the big boys. I like Bella Kotchap - right footed but has played as a LCB for Southampton so can cover both Saliba and Gabriel. If Southampton get relegated he'd be attainable.
CM > probably the only place I'd go big - Caicedo, Rice, FdJ (pipe dream) would be the profile. A young-ish player who can find his feet as an 8 in our system for a couple of seasons before settling down as our long term 6.

I would keep Tierney actually. We need something different from that position. Good shout on Bellakotchap. Take him and Lavia together if they are relegated. Salisu too if we need a CB. In fact their squad is pretty interesting, very young and talented.

Actually I was pretty impressed again by AMN at RB against Spurs. He is pretty perfect for what we want to do in possession if he can get his head around playing at RB since whenever he go on loan he plays there too.

If we can do that we can save all our power to get a top winger and a CM and call it a day. Caicedo + Kvaratdonna?

Could we steal a march on Spurs for Kulusevski? There is a purchase obligation in the loan deal but if the player refuses (due to his head being turned by interest elsewhere) he'd be back on the market? Unless the player was forced to commit at the start of the loan deal that he'd accept a permanent deal if certain conditions were met and the purchase obligation was triggered?

Would be great to pull another (albeit at a much smaller scale) Sol on them.

TambourineMan I think he probably commited at the start of his loan deal. However, there have been suggestions that the obligation only kicks in if Spurs qualifies to the CL. Imagine taking one of their few great players due to them not qualifying - it would be amazing. He's even admitted to being an Arsenal fan in the past.

I've always liked AMN. Think he'd be good as Zinchenko back-up as well. He's done well for us at LB in the past and with the added incentive of coming inside the same way Zinny does, he might find the motivation to go up a level or two.

Caicedo + Kvicha + penny pinching elsewhere for squad depth would be a dream summer.

Clrnc he's great. Hopefully I'll be watching him in the flesh for Ireland tomorrow night.

I'm happy with him staying where he is though. Needs to play games. In fact he had offers from Liverpool and others before joining Brighton because he knew it was his best route to the first team so I reckon he'll stay and cement himself before he goes anywhere. Smart kid.

Temo I don't fancy Jesus in that role TBH. I wouldn't mind him rotating around the wing as well as up top a bit if we could bring in someone really good up top. Just imagine someone like Victor Osimhen up there who scores loads and can dribble at defenders.

I hate buying from this team, but the two players are so incredible. The team would then just need little edits at fullback and maybe centre back.

That people like Xavi, who has won everything, who is one of those who knows the most, talk about me is already a reason to be happy. Beyond that it would be illogical not to think about anything other than Real Sociedad, we are having a great season and I am very happy.

In summer there was a lot of talk about his future, in the end he renewed until 2027, but he maintains a not excessively high clause of 60 million.

Beyond the clause, when someone wants to be in a club, the clause doesn't matter. I think it is a balanced clause with all the aspects that the contract met. Nothing more than that.

What was true in all the rumours that were said about Arsenal in the winter market?

Rumors, rumors, because I told my representative that I didn't want to hear anything, especially in winter. Leaving aside Real Sociedad with the season we are doing would be illogical. Here I am very happy.

Can summer be another story?

Overall the interview is extremely reticent. He says his release clause is just one part of his contract, through which he defines his commitment to Real Sociedad. He refuses countless other painfully transparent attempts to get him to suggest he'd like to succeed Busquets, or go anywhere, or do anything other than stay put. 🙂

Yeah, there is a Spanish phrase "No pasa nada" which is usually used in response to the question "Que pasa?"

Que pasa? - What's happening?
No pasa nada - Nothing's happening.

I'd take the "nada" here as a contraction of that phrase. But I might be wrong.
