Overall, I've found the reaction to the performance and defeat quite OTT.
It was a difficult game and Everton really turned up. I don't agree that we were toothless or over confident. Nor were we outplayed or outfought imo. We actually had three of four (Eddie, Ode, Saka x2) really good chances where we didn't even manage to hit the target. They had a 25 minute period in the first half where they chased us down very well but apart form that we advanced the ball pretty well. Our execution in the final third from the situations we created was what was the difference.
At the end of the day, performances like this happen throughout the season and on such days you need a bit of composure and maybe a moment of quality to decide the game. We've already had a couple this season (Leeds and Southampton away) but managed to come away with some points there due to some luck and some moments of quality. I do expect more such performances especially once Europa starts and you just have to hope we grind it out by staying composed at the back and finding the required quality up top even when we aren't dominating.
Tow major concerns for me were - firstly, Partey's sub. Hope he's not injured. And secondly, this blueprint of playing against us sticking, and the referee allowing it. If it is, another Diaby/Eduaro/Ramsey situation is a real possibility.
P.S - Since the last game we lost (United A) we had 11 wins in 13 with 2 draws. We replicate that and we will be champions. 😉
