Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert we really didn’t have a shit window. This team cruised through the first half of the season. It needed a bit more security which we got. One loss doesn’t suddenly signal that we are inadequate.

We needed a Mudryk but we got a slowish dribbly player, whose highest level was Brighton at 28 years of age.

Saka will have off games (two in a row now) and Martinelli looks grimly predictable at times.

We fucked it up.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert Mudryk is likely to be the better player but nothing he's done so far suggests that he'd make more of a difference than Trossard for the next few months.

The transfer window has nothing to do with this result. Mudryk, for example, looked awful yesterday and haven't played a match in months. He'll need time to get back in match form. The team simply did not show up. It was evident in the first few minutes, as our pressing was terrible. Looked like the players didn't really care that much.

I think Trossard will be more useful to us this season, too. He looked threatening today, but he needs minutes to find his form.

I'm no expert on Mudryk, but my concerns when we were going to spend a packet on him were his ability to beat his man from a standing start with little space - the same problem Martinelli has, and just about every other winger in the world for that matter - but, more importantly, his ability to score goals. I just don't see him being a prolific scorer any time soon, as perhaps ever.

I kinda see a supercharged Tomas Rosicky when I look at Mudryk (which would be some player, dont get me wrong), and I'm not sure he would have fared that differently to Martinelli today.

Absolutely.

Nketiah was always trying to flick the ball, and doesn’t take first time shots either.

This sort of game you can’t afford to always get to your spot, you have to mix it up and give the keeper and the defender a different threat.

To be honest, even Trossard up front at the end would have been worth a try.

Not sure I agree with that, my concern would be your have to maximise the times when things go your way. This season went had a lot of things that favour us. Most the "rivals" for a title totally off it very reminiscent of the Leicester title win. Us having the best start to a season in most of our history. These variables don't tend to repeat that often. My sense is this is probably going to be one of our best chances in a long while. Even Liverpool when they were in their highpoint only managed to land it once.

Still hurting, this loss. Guess partly it’s down to forgetting what one feels like.

Really reminded me of that defeat at St James’ at the end of last season, where the press, and physicality of it, we just couldn’t live with. Credit to Everton, they dropped into that low block and then pressed high brilliantly. They knew when to engage as a team. But we just didn’t show enough bravery or quickness on the ball to move them out of it. Wingers looked isolated, and we couldn’t get the usual patterns going. We started to in the 2nd half, then gave the goal away.

Hopefully it’s just a blip, but Brentford won’t be easy. They’re 9 games unbeaten. Going to have to play much better than that.

Amazing how quickly things can change. Could have been 8 points ahead of Man City before they play this week. Instead it's likely only 2 points after tomorrow now and they could move above us next week. Just crazy how quickly it can all be gone after how long it took to get into this position.

It’s cutting to lose but I feel confident we’ll bounce back.

Wouldnt surprise me if Spurs beat City today. It’s odd but I’m more worried about United chasing us down
