We lost because they were better on the day, not because of VAR.

Don Pacifico I agree but you expect with VAR they get their calls right which they're not.

Even the best teams have off days which we clearly did but the penalty might have been what we needed on the day.

Don Pacifico thats fine in isolation but across a league season our rivals get away with bad performances when the officials give them calls like that. Us not getting them is big disadvantage despite our performance. No one plays brilliantly for 38 games of the season.

Qwiss agree with the second part of what you say but I feel like if you ask most fans of any club, they'd say they're hard done by the officiating in the PL. The times where things go against us are more memorable than when things go the way they should etc.

That being said, I'm starting to think there's some unconscious boss against Saka going on...

Don Pacifico as I keep banging on about we've had one penalty all season. Normally teams at the top of the league have the most penalties due to possession, attacking more often, etc We score plenty and have plenty of attacking possession yet we get way fewer penalties. I think its fair to say we aren't getting our calls as often as many other teams.

JazzG to be fair at least Webb is being a little more consistent with not intervening now.

Under Riley the threshold varied from Odegaard breathing on Eriksens neck being enough, to karate kick to the chest not being over the threshold a week later.

fwiw I felt that penalty incident was neither here nor there. I can see it not being called.

What does "absolutely clear it was an error" mean? It's either a foul or it isn't. And if it's a foul, it's an error. It's incredibly simple and every country except England has managed to get this right.

Whether it is or isn't a foul is subjective though, as evidenced above. I'm personally quite happy for VAR to interfere less because the threshold is constantly shifted to shaft us depending on the circumstances.

Yeah it's subjective but if VAR thinks it's a foul, the ref can go have a look. The standard is not "100% foul by every objective standard, no room for debate".
