The media love in is getting sickening. Utd were clinical again, that is one thing you have to give them. Saw against Leicester they're getting bailed out by there GK and they go and score down the other end.

I thought Newcastle looked better for much of that game but you can see they don’t really have any cutting edge up top.

I think the 'United are back' angle is massively premature. United are not playing the sort of football he wants them to be playing (remember when he tried to get DDG to play out the back?) and their current style is not something that gets you beyond a certain level. It's basically more of what we saw under Solkjear but with some better defensive players.

That's not to say ETH won't be able to get them to the next stage, but it is the hard part.

goon The improvement he has made has been very impressive, there is no doubt they're a much better and well organised side compared to what he inherited. Credit has to be given in the short space of time he has turned that side around as well. But that First XI who played Newcastle cost them close to £400m so not exactly working miracles with budget players. Also helped by signing a very highly motivated Casemiro, I think many thought he was there for the money but he has been fantastic for them.

Clrnc he's done well but that's neither here nor there. As Neville pointed out a couple of weeks back Mourinho and Ole (the season before last believe it not) finished second too and you heard the same things then. United are back, have the challenge for the title etc. Remember how giddy their fans got after they finished second with Ole and then signed Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho?

Arteta on the other hand has almost done it in reverse. He made the easy part look hard and the hard part look easy.

Err no, not everyone. I said they at the start of the season they had improved their team in the summer and would be better. Man Utd have been dodgy because they had Lindelof, Maguire, Fred and McTominay at the heart of their team. Now they have a fit Varane, Martinez, Eriksen and Casemiro. It's chalk and cheese.

They're a striker short of contesting for the title, and Newcastle are probably two top class forwards from contesting.

Casemiro in particular has been transformational for them and with Varane looking good again, they've got a duo from the legendary R Madrid side around 30 with possibly a couple more years in them. Let's hope they fall off sooner rather than later, but the way both were at it in winning the Carabao Cup, you'd think the cunts won another CL.

goon The difference is that ETH is winning matches convincingly and also in his famed style. For Mourinho and Ole, nobody rated them and from the start we all wanted them to stay as long as possible.

daredevil -- have to agree, and in particular on the upgrades mentioned. Those players along with an inform Rashford, Fernandes, and Luke Shaw is enough in the league these days, and also enough to seriously trouble a resurgent Barcelona.

There's plenty of opportunity for them to continue improving too which is worrying.

goon It's all totally OTT. He's simply got an underperforming team to perform at a level closer to expectations, and won a garbage trophy nobody gives a shit about unless its United winning it. The media wankfest is embarrassing.

I'd say whatever success he's had is probably down to the dressing room dynamics he's cultivated rather than anything tactical. He's a good coach, though. Up seems the only way they're going, but it was inevitable that some of the shit they've thrown at the wall would stick eventually.

That's the thing though, they haven't. Kroenke (and every other owner) has put more money in than them, it's just that their revenue is so high.
