Meatwad I've watched 2 Bologna games and can say that his movement and ball skills are definitely not awkward. However, he does drop pretty deep to facilitate play - much like what Kane did last Tuesday - and as a result is not always leading the line as a 9.
He's much more of a facilitator as a CF than an out and out goal scorer but I do think a lot of that is due to the situation he is in now as he has a lot of buildup and creation responsibilities in that Bologna team. One thing I love about him is his ability to hold the ball up and then involve his midfielders making runs in behind him (Ferguson on Bologna is really fun- such a shame that he just did his ACL).
He's definitely got some Havertz to his game but I think he's more gifted on the ball and a better ball striker. I haven't watched enough of him to be able to attest to his OOP play and movement without the ball though, which is such a big differentiator for Kai.
