Burnwinter he’s a chaotic finisher but that’s been the case all season and beyond. But that’s not the same as choking. Watch it back and you’d see he’s involved in so many dangerous moments where even if he’s failing, he’s bringing others alive. I’m convinced if he stayed on vs West Ham we’d have at least created more. I love the guy.

goon I love him as well, no argument, but it would be nice to have a striker who was confidently getting on the end of crosses, and taking his chances, he was way off it today and his body language and facial expressions filled me with woe. You could see he was absolutely freaking out about his failures to score.

Jesus is a brilliant player, he's just not a brilliant centre forward. Its an issue, it was always going to be an issue. We need our own Aguero to get things in balance. Or we need a Frank Lampard type figure in the midfield to bang in another 15-20 goals a season on top of what we already have.

I don’t think it is personally, but that’s dependent on what levels Martinelli and Saka are capable of. If they can become 20+ league goal a season players, and they’re not going to be far off this season, then we will be fine. See Liverpool with Salah, Mane and Firminho. Odegaard has double figures too.

All that being said, Jesus has 9 despite missing a third of the season. I’d wager he’d have been our top scorer if not.

Goals are not a problem in this side, we scored 3 yesterday and have scored nearly as many as City despite the record breaking cyborg they have up top. Jesus has played a big part in that, the only period where we struggled for goals and chances was when he was out.

Liverpool only managed one title out of 4-5 close attempts though. I guess Odegaard can be what they missed. Though they had a much meaner defence.

Qwiss they lost out on a second and third title by a point each time, one of them with 97 points and scoring a shit ton of goals on the way.

He's been a recent disappointment for me but I may have carried unfair expectations. I expected his return to have a talisman effect and give us a 2nd wind to coast the winnable games. I still consider Jesus as a needed secret weapon for Wednesday, but now appreciate that his reintroduction may have been too discrete and immediate. I expected more composure and coldness from him and Partey in these last three fixtures.

I think it's become abundantly clear that despite how he's been talked up, he's just not a CF. Fantastic player until we need him to score goals.

Don Pacifico I think we absolutely need a goal scorer. I have looked it up, but every single title winning team has a top CF scoring more than 15 goals or in a few Chelsea seasons when they won, have 2 top CFs sharing the goalscoring load.

This was always the things with Jesus, we knew he wasn't a goal scorer, a very good player but not going to get you the goals when you really need them it's not his strength. But it's the type of player arteta wanted for his team so he's chosen that type of player.

You only have to go as far back as last season to see a title winning side who didn't have a CF that scored more than 15 league goals. Who just happens to be the guy we bought and is the player you are criticising. Like goddamn, that's amazing.

Or go the season before that and lo and behold, it's our man again scoring fewer than 15 goals and winning the title.

Or go the season before that where it's Firmino who scored a whopping 9 league goals as a CF to win Liverpool the title.

Jesus has 5 goals in his last 6 starts. 10 goals and 5 assists in 22 league games. Yet, it's amazing how quickly a narrative sticks.

He's not keeping the ball and doing those mazey, defence destabilising, dribbles since his return. Never mind the goals, thats not his game but where has the crazy confidence we seen before the World Cup gone?

he's short on confidence and rhythm at the moment. he will improve, but it will probably too late in the context of this season

Gazza M He scored against Liverpool & West Ham so you'd think his confidence would be up. He just isn't a natural finisher, I fear he will always fluff these good chances.

His all round game probably isn't back up to scratch which it isn't unexpected after such a long lay off. Realistically will be next season until he is back to 100%

Kel Varnsen yeah seemed very different. A lack of pressing and dribbling compared to before it. Maybe he was a little rushed. There was really no need for him to come back so quickly and full on when we had Trossard already playing so well.

Lost the burst that he had.. Normal as he had a big injury.. Hopefully will be back with the new season

the pressing and overall effort was definitely chalk and cheese compared to pre-injury. either the handbrake is on mentally, or the fitness isn't quite there yet, which is entirely possible

daredevil City didn't even play with a CF past 2 seasons but whatever floats your boat. Sometimes people are so tedious we have to spell it out word by word.

I thought you said every title winning team has a top CF scoring more than 15 goals (and that you looked it up), and now you're saying City didn't even play with a CF. So which is it?

It's just amusing that you're claiming something that's untrue over the last three seasons and using it as a stick to beat the guy who happens to be a key reason why the last three seasons have been exceptions.

Anyway, it's not that deep. Most teams in history have had a goal scoring CF, but the guy you're criticising happens to be one of the guys disproving the rule.
