Honestly, this sucks so much. I lost hopes for top four now.

What?  😆

Did Iwobi become world class overnight? I must've missed something. He's an ok player. We're not gonna miss him one bit. I'm excited about what Nelson and Martinelli will do in his position, both have much greater upside.

its hard to see how this window can objectively be considered a disappointment

saliba - one of the best young defender prospects in europe
tierney - one of the best young left backs in the game
pepe - elite winger, something we've been crying out for
luiz - is a piece of shit, but a better defender than mustafi
extended the contracts for auba and lacazette to ensure we dont have another ramsey situation any time soon

sold off a bunch of fringe players. positive rumors that even ozil might be gone in january.

got £40m for iwobi, who even though hes shown flashes, hasnt taken the big step forward

id have obviously preferred that we ship out mustafi and mkh this window and replaced them, but we had a ton of work to do, and id say we got about 80% of it done, and thats a lot for one window.

8/10 window for me. We brought in a lot of good players. Secured a premier talent at a good price. Sold of some wasters. And only lost one player who divides opinion. The guys did really well. The surge in energy on the forum post the fans' meeting shows just what a good job has been done.

£40m is great business for Iwobi.

Still a bit gutted we missed out on Upamecano though, would have capped off our window if we bought in a top class CB.

What do YOU plan to do with that 40 million?

Save it for a world class CB in the next windows? Use it to pay off the Pepe fees? Trying to help JazzG here.

Maybe pay for Pepe and Tierney.

Basically we are putting all our eggs on Nelson.

Ricky was right all along, Iwobi missing from all the pictures and preseason was a sign that Emery dont rate him at all and is putting faith is Saka Nelson and Martinelli

we could potentially go for Zaha in January? Wouldn't be terrible playing an auxiliary midfielder on the left until then. I know when his confidence was down that he would stink up the place but man Iwobi was one my favorite players to watch and I'm quite gutted to hear he is leaving. The window is tainted a bit for me.

Anyway, good luck to Iwobi at Everton. Nothing against him, seemed a nice lad but ultimately not good enough for Arsenal. Hope he does well in a lesser pressure environment at Everton.

A 17 year old, a 19 year old and another 17 year old.

Only Nelson has any top level experience - and even that wasn't smooth sailing. This a gamble.

Actually pissed that we've sold Iwobi.

I’d imagine our inability to shift Ozil/Mkhi lead to Iwobi being sold. Had to balance the books somehow, shame it was with a younger talent.

Interesting the Iwobi sales brings us close to the alleged £45m budget. Coincidence?

I'm ok with this. We've switch formation and I think Emery want goals from his front 3. Iwobi doesn't give you that, he has other qualities but he would have to step up massively for this to be a mistake.. 40m can go towards another madness in Jan/next season or was needed to balance the books which would have made Pepe possible

With Pepe in he wasn't going to get much game time, now we can let Nelson and Martinelli fight for his minutes

Good luck Alex Iwobi wobi

When I hear these names being mentioned as serious squad options for the upcoming season, I want to punch a wall. What people don't seem to realise is that these minutes wiil end up going to Mkhitaryan, whilst the kids will barely get a look in and rightly so.

I've shat on Nelson for a while now, but this is truly his chance to step up. He's not as talented as Iwobi was, but here's hoping he proves me wrong.

Get it changed to pennies and pile it up on the left wing for the season, still better than Ozil. :hat:

Agree with all this. Nelson doesn't look close to ready. He couldn't solidify his place at Hoffenheim and he's been poor in pre-season. I'm still hoping he'll come good but I can see us pushing a lot of square pegs into that Iwobi shaped hole this season. Also expecting way too much Mhkitarian.

Sign Upamecano in January 😉

Zaha for Iwobi would have upset me. This is really frustrating. Hard working Arsenal boy with flair and upside that we have invested time in for the last few years, who doesn't complain and may be on the verge of a breakthrough year is sold without replacement. Don't like this at all. The clubs are ruthless with players too when it suits them. Wish him luck, really liked him.

Like I said earlier, Zaha was 23 when he left United. He barely touched the ball for them.

A bit sad to lose Iwobi as he's Arsenal through and through but the money on offer was obviously too good to turn down for a player of his quality.

No, they will play.

What you have to realise is that you can't have these guys and not give them minutes. They will eventually want to leave.
