I guess we need money back now. We spent a lot?

Also don't like it just because it brings back memories of early days of City. We basically built City phase 1 with Clichy, Nasri, Toure, etc. Gave them legitimacy before they went after Tier 1 stars.

I wouldn't say that Iwobi leaving is a disaster, but its not ideal. I have a feeling that Nelson may be getting a few more minutes now

They just feel the offer is too good to turn down.

Ultimately I think we needed to balance the books - otherwise Iwobi would certainly have held his value till next summer.

Iwobi + £30m for Pepe isn't bad.

Had to balance it out to about 70m.

Not a fan of shipping Iwobi, but this what happens when we have suckers like Mustafi and Mkhi taking up space.

We need Zaha now.

Nelson will get a shot now as well.

We need to create room and clearly Iwobi wasn’t part of the long term plan

This is it more or less. Better Iwobi than one of our strikers, I guess.

40 mil, most expensive sale we ever made.

the question i guess is, is iwobi better (£40m better) than nelson? because both were going to play that LW role. and i suspect with us signing tierney, that kola is actually going to play more as a LW too. i dont think iwobi is 10x the player that nelson is or can be. i think nelson deserves minutes. taking £40m for iwobi is decent business

Sorry, it clearly says 17:01 on the tweet. Good hustle Everton, but you came up a little short. Thank you for your interest in our affairs.

Kola might still be off with Tierney coming in.

Breaking SSN: Iwobi to Everton still possible

How stupid..

There is obviously the caveat that timelines and the information we have is incomplete - there could be an answer to all those questions, we just don't know them.

There absolutely can, but the bottom line is that we've strengthened a central defence that let in 51 league goals with David Luiz.

And Tierney. Mustafi has been relegated further plus Bellerin will hopefully be fit for most of this season instead of out for most of it.

£40m is great business for Iwobi.

Still a bit gutted we missed out on Upamecano though, would have capped off our window if we bought in a top class CB.

6 deals sheets submitted to the PL!

Disappointed at potentially losing Iwobi, but guess a combo of factors have led to this. Cements the view that he would have been used as a fringe player this coming season. The rise of Willock and maybe a belief that we could get Ceballos permanently at the end of this season changed things for him.

Still a decent window overall.

A couple of injuries at the same time to our front four and we're in trouble imo.

City confirm ACL rupture for Leroy Sané.

its hard to see how this window can objectively be considered a disappointment

saliba - one of the best young defender prospects in europe
tierney - one of the best young left backs in the game
pepe - elite winger, something we've been crying out for
luiz - is a piece of shit, but a better defender than mustafi
extended the contracts for auba and lacazette to ensure we dont have another ramsey situation any time soon

sold off a bunch of fringe players. positive rumors that even ozil might be gone in january.

got £40m for iwobi, who even though hes shown flashes, hasnt taken the big step forward

id have obviously preferred that we ship out mustafi and mkh this window and replaced them, but we had a ton of work to do, and id say we got about 80% of it done, and thats a lot for one window.

Seems like West Brom's recruitment strategy is to target ex Arsenal youth players. Already got Bartley, Gibbs and Ajayi and just signed Chris Willock on loan from Benfica.

The window is still open for outgoings to other leagues. Still hope for moving on Ozil, Mhki, Mustafi, etc

It's huge news for Martinelli and Nelson, along with Mkhi they're now the immediate back up for Auba, Laca and Pepe.

We can't really afford to move Ozil and Mkhi on now. We need numbers.

Potentially Monreal and Mustafi will leave though.

Everton fans are not very happy with the deal.

Should we keep Smith-Rowe now?

The Sun can definitively reveal that Mustafi is better than Luiz, ladies and gentlemen. We should stick to starting the German.

I'm not going to read the Sun but there were comparative stats going round that showed statistically Mustafi was better than VVD.

See. The article worked. You still remember it 🙂

Kola just wouldn’t work at LW, he only has one move, on the overlap. Would be a worse experiment than Eboue on the wing.

Very disappointed we’ve lost Iwobi. I guess that Auba is going to be playing on the left, with Nelson, Martinelli, Özil and Saka as back-up/ options. Fine, but would you want any of those to start in the prem? And worse, what if we conclude that Auba just doesn’t have it to play out wide? He’s looked mixed on the right but mostly just poor on the left so far. Pretty shit depth all of a sudden.

Honestly, this sucks so much. I lost hopes for top four now.

Wut.

Nah. We’ve still got much better squads than United and Chelsea. Let’s not exaggerate.

Chill bro.

iwobi hasnt scored more than 3 goals in his Arsenal career. Arsenal being cut throat and rightly so.

ESR will stay now imo.
