Ultimately I think we needed to balance the books - otherwise Iwobi would certainly have held his value till next summer.
Iwobi + £30m for Pepe isn't bad.

the question i guess is, is iwobi better (£40m better) than nelson? because both were going to play that LW role. and i suspect with us signing tierney, that kola is actually going to play more as a LW too. i dont think iwobi is 10x the player that nelson is or can be. i think nelson deserves minutes. taking £40m for iwobi is decent business

There absolutely can, but the bottom line is that we've strengthened a central defence that let in 51 league goals with David Luiz.
And Tierney. Mustafi has been relegated further plus Bellerin will hopefully be fit for most of this season instead of out for most of it.
£40m is great business for Iwobi.
Still a bit gutted we missed out on Upamecano though, would have capped off our window if we bought in a top class CB.
The window is no longer successful imo.
