Tierney and Luiz fit Merryball

I agree

Fantastic! Going to be great for us.

Wonder if Lennon has said anything in his post-match press conference/interview?

Mustafi -> Luiz
Kolasinac -> Tierney
Ramsey -> Ceballos
Mkhitaryan -> Pepe

We've done alright, people.

So no Coutinho? Still slightly concerned about left wing. Unless Reiss is the Chosen One.

Coutinho has been terrible on the wing for Barca though.

I feel that Pepe, Iwobi, Nelson and Lacazette/Auba is decent wing cover for a season. Not earth shattering good but it has several good combinations, and it would give Iwobi and Nelson an opportunity to show what they can do.

Still not certain on that. Happy to put my neck on the line though, it’s ok if I’m wrong.

Think we'll be able to bin Mustafi before the international window closes?

Yes.

Just posting for the cool picture.

Is there no one that fancies we are still trying for Upamecano before deadline then? The EMS link is still there; Leipzig alledgedly pushing hard.

It certainly is a shocker.

That would truly make this a 9/10.

Has quality and aggression. Good to see us have some spikey players again

I couldn’t care less whether anyone thinks I’m wrong or not. I’ve told the news as I’ve got it, it hasn’t been wrong but that doesn’t mean things don’t change.

No worries, I appreciate things can change quickly as others have mentioned.

I wonder if things swung back for Tierney again when we opted for Luiz instead of Upamecano.

Hope we make one last push for him, look at Liverpool's spending last summer. It was speculated then that they were using up this summer's funds to get deals done last year. We get Upamecano we're back in the CL, no doubt about it.

But the window so far has far gone beyond my expectations, we feel like a big club again if that makes sense?

Hell, I forgot Big Bill Saliba!

We did pretty great.

Looks like a terrific summer window. 8/10 imo. Team should be good enough for 3rd place.

9/10 on who we brought in
6/10 on who we sold (no Ozil/Mkhi, mediocre return on other players)

I'll give it an overall 8/10 transfer window....so far 🙂

Good window, only soured by the luiz deal. Such a waste of resources. At least the guy can pass into midfield and can ping a long ball. Defense will still be a mess, but hopefully enough for top 4

Still an outside hope if everton panick and offer 40m for iwobi we'll try once more for upa. Rauls prestige

MistaT wrote:

I agree that this makes Luiz palatable as he should limit crosses from that side.
I also kinda hope Raul forced Lawwell to blink first when all the details come out.

Great window. So much work to be done to address all our issues but we’re making good inroads whilst be the least attractive we’ve been in a while.

Imagine a Wenger window in place of this!

New management know whassup

If we sort out the defence, this will have been our best ever transfer window.

Welbeck extends...."like a new signing"
Jenkinson isn't sold...."he has fantastic determination"
Saliba isn't signed...."we were close, but only wanted zuuper quality"

David Luiz? I feel sick. Tell me Tierney isn't another Rosicky is he?

Many of these deals wouldn't be possible if we'd extended ramsey. Looks like he's been injured for chunk of juves preseason as well

Just saying

Ehh good riddance

Melvin came in and gave the guns and butter speech to raul and co

'There are two types of clubs, clubs with guns, and clubs with butter. What are the guns? That’s the pepes, the salibas, and tierneys. Art work. Shit that appreciates with value. What’s the butter? Jenkinsons, mustafis, el nenys, all the bullshit that don’t mean shit after you buy it. That’s what it’s all about: Guns and butter baby'

If we sell Mustafi and sign no one else we will still be a bit short in terms of cover at the heart of defence.

I would keep him for squad depth. Also, we don’t know in what condition Holding will be like post injury.

Got an awful lot right, claims to be a "semi-retired football agent", clearly has connections to a lot of clubs.

After the recruitment of Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, William Saliba (who has returned on loan to Saint Etienne) and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal and Raul Sanllehi, their CEO in charge of football operations, are focused on recruiting a centre-back. It will have to be a loan, however, as Arsenal have spent all their budget on transfers for this summer.

Moral of the story: Julien Laurens is full of shit.

Might even be just £5m for Luiz:

Effectively Kos for Luiz.

Luiz is better, younger, less crooked and has a longer time remaining on his contract than Kos. The same price for them would be great business.

Hmm that really would be a bargain. Odd.

Tbh I don't object to Luiz the player as much as I object to Luiz the person.

Luiz is also a bigger winner than Kos and a big game player (I’ve been doing some reading on the Chelsea Shed forum and this is the thing most of their fans will miss about him, how he gets fired up for big games).

Luiz would be by far the most decorated player in our squad, he started and played the full 120 mins in Chelsea’s CL 2012 final and even scored their second penalty in their shootout. He’s won the Europa League twice with them as well as countless trophies with PSG and has 56 caps for arguably the biggest football nation in the world.

I think he is a good stop gap.

David Luiz always struck me as the Chelsea equivalent of Phil Jones. Not sure why y’all rate him to be honest.

He is paid much higher (I don't know exactly but his last contract was £120k a week).

Technically they are chalk and cheese.

Why does or did he want to leave Chelsea again?
