Yep, sounds like an accurate summary, and a sensible position to take up.

In all seriousness Luiz was great in Conte's first season at Chelsea, but he also played more like a midfield sweeper back then. It's just a bit hard to swallow that this is the kind of deal that is going to fix the leakiest defence we've had in 20+ years.

There’s no way it is. But signing any one player was never going to do that. The club obviously prioritised offence this window, which i don’t see a huge problem with. Funds were limited and they probably saw it as cheaper and easier to sort that out then to tackle the defence. We’ve gone from Kola being our best wide player to a winger all of europe wanted and have replaced Ramsey, for the season, with someone who the whole forum is excited about.

Obviously we’ve scrambled a bit to try and sign Upa but ill give the benefit of the doubt to the club and say that the Pepe deal was probably holding things up. At least we’ve shown intent and ambition, which we haven’t in years.

Maybe i expect too little from the club. If we get Tierney and Luiz i think it’s been our best window in years and years. I dont see why this place is in pieces over it. We were never going to fix everything in one window.

£8m Luiz and Tierney is palatable. Not perfect. But palatable.
It means we still need to prioritize going back for Upamecano next summer, particularly if Holding doesn’t catch fire immediately

Luiz and an agreement with Leipzig to buy next summer and send ESR on loan. Similar to what Pool did with Keita.

Tam do you think Tierney will join us?

All over Twitter now that it's done, he will be joining us. Being reported 5 year deal £75k a week

I’ve no idea if it’ll get done, or why it hasn’t been done so far. All I know is that he’s definitely not in London and up to an hour ago it was looking more like it wasn’t going to happen.

Sounds promising on Tierney! Delightful.

Mirror also saying £8m for Luiz. I'm disappointed if he's the best CB we bring in, but he's MUCH better than Mustafi and that's a decent deal to help us through this season.

I just wish we hadn't been linked with Upamecano. I want him so much. He's skewed the whole outlook for me.

If you had offered me this window in May I would have bitten your hand off for it. CB aside, it's crazy good. Let's be honest now.

Bro it’s ok if you are wrong.

What a signing Tierney is. Scottish steel at the back. Leggoooo

I couldn’t care less whether anyone thinks I’m wrong or not. I’ve told the news as I’ve got it, it hasn’t been wrong but that doesn’t mean things don’t change.

8m for Luiz is honestly a good price, was expecting 15+. I'm happy with our window if we get Luiz and Tierney. Use Leipzig's interest in ESR to secure a deal for Upamecano please.

Don't worry about Sicario, Tam. Not sure what he's getting at.

Tam can't be wrong because he's just passing on what someone has told him. It's possible his mate just hasn't caught up with a fast moving situation.

Let's hope this is true. Everyone going with this now.

Appreciate the updates Tam.

I wonder if things swung back for Tierney again when we opted for Luiz instead of Upamecano.

I'm content. Hope we can arrange a deal for Upa for next summer at least.

I guess Leipzig are hoping that teams will line up next year to activate the £80m release clause. We should go back in December. Fortunately, the Luiz capital is small enough it doesn’t eat into our budget for next year, so we should see if we can pre-empt the Upamecano battle royale.

Fantastic! Going to be great for us.

Wonder if Lennon has said anything in his post-match press conference/interview?

Mustafi -> Luiz
Kolasinac -> Tierney
Ramsey -> Ceballos
Mkhitaryan -> Pepe

We've done alright, people.

So no Coutinho? Still slightly concerned about left wing. Unless Reiss is the Chosen One.

Coutinho has been terrible on the wing for Barca though.

I feel that Pepe, Iwobi, Nelson and Lacazette/Auba is decent wing cover for a season. Not earth shattering good but it has several good combinations, and it would give Iwobi and Nelson an opportunity to show what they can do.

Still not certain on that. Happy to put my neck on the line though, it’s ok if I’m wrong.

Think we'll be able to bin Mustafi before the international window closes?

Yes.

Is there no one that fancies we are still trying for Upamecano before deadline then? The EMS link is still there; Leipzig alledgedly pushing hard.

That would truly make this a 9/10.

Has quality and aggression. Good to see us have some spikey players again

No worries, I appreciate things can change quickly as others have mentioned.

Hope we make one last push for him, look at Liverpool's spending last summer. It was speculated then that they were using up this summer's funds to get deals done last year. We get Upamecano we're back in the CL, no doubt about it.

But the window so far has far gone beyond my expectations, we feel like a big club again if that makes sense?

Hell, I forgot Big Bill Saliba!

We did pretty great.

Looks like a terrific summer window. 8/10 imo. Team should be good enough for 3rd place.

9/10 on who we brought in
6/10 on who we sold (no Ozil/Mkhi, mediocre return on other players)

I'll give it an overall 8/10 transfer window....so far 🙂

Good window, only soured by the luiz deal. Such a waste of resources. At least the guy can pass into midfield and can ping a long ball. Defense will still be a mess, but hopefully enough for top 4

Still an outside hope if everton panick and offer 40m for iwobi we'll try once more for upa. Rauls prestige
