Yep, sounds like an accurate summary, and a sensible position to take up.
In all seriousness Luiz was great in Conte's first season at Chelsea, but he also played more like a midfield sweeper back then. It's just a bit hard to swallow that this is the kind of deal that is going to fix the leakiest defence we've had in 20+ years.
There’s no way it is. But signing any one player was never going to do that. The club obviously prioritised offence this window, which i don’t see a huge problem with. Funds were limited and they probably saw it as cheaper and easier to sort that out then to tackle the defence. We’ve gone from Kola being our best wide player to a winger all of europe wanted and have replaced Ramsey, for the season, with someone who the whole forum is excited about.
Obviously we’ve scrambled a bit to try and sign Upa but ill give the benefit of the doubt to the club and say that the Pepe deal was probably holding things up. At least we’ve shown intent and ambition, which we haven’t in years.
Maybe i expect too little from the club. If we get Tierney and Luiz i think it’s been our best window in years and years. I dont see why this place is in pieces over it. We were never going to fix everything in one window.
