Hopefully it's not because Ligue 2 is his level.

Arsenal and Lorient close to reaching agreement for Alexis Claude-Maurice, with Arsenal's latest bid at £18m. The transfer is nearing its end and the player could come to London in the coming days as per the reliable SoccerLink

I wonder what name will he have on his shirt? I know some people call him Maurice...but some call him the gangster of love. :hmm:

£50m budget and we're spending 18 of it on a Ligue 2 player. Better be some talent.

Yup. And we are still to claim the Chambers and Xhaka money.

Why would we care about relative terms to clubs with budgets that we can't match? £50m is nothing in relative terms to what Real Madrid are spending.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the most expensive Ligue 1 transfer is? Wouldn't be surprised if it's lower than £18m by some margin.

Seb Frey for £13m to Inter. Either way he’s probably worth around £15m so not too upset to be spending £3m or so more on him, Ospina’s fee pays for it.

Well I suppose we could go out and get 6 or 7 gillingham players. Point is if you want decent potential you have to be prepared to pay close to the market value

Yes, that is what I want.

I'm pretty excited by this.

Ligue 2 has certainly produced some good talent in the last few years.

I'm a bit worried this guy looks more a second striker than he does a proper wide man. Doesn't look particularly quick or that brilliant when carrying the ball either, but he definitely has good balance, close control and one hell of a hit on him without much backlift.

He’s fleet footed Tricks. Perhaps not a powerful sprinter but springy quick. We need our wide men to be direct and carry a goal threat

He looks to have a good shot. I will kill for someone who can shoot from range in our team.
