I agree. Unless he was better than he looked in the videos around of him, and by better, I mean a truly elite talent, I couldn't fathom why the club would talk so much about academy and then bang nearly £20m on a player like Claude-Maurice that plays in a position where 3 or 4 of said academy talent play.
On top of that, Gabrile Martinelli plays there, and he is signed and done. The Brazilian is a punt at £6m, albeit, he's very highly rated by their nationa team, Claude-Maurice would have been one too many and much too expensive.
