Torreira got to the ball first
Arsenal @ Spurs | Sat 2 March 12.30pm | Roast cockerel & ale
Wasn't it just last season that all hope was well and truly lost as Lacazette missed a clear last minute chance to beat these losers at Wembley? We drew instead, they celebrated, and that was that...
I don't remember the details but the deja vu is strong, except with outrageous refereeing thrown in for good measure.
Next week we have a chance to change the script with a result against manU, but god knows we are not favourites for that at all.
Mirror on why Spurs penalty call was correct and Mustafi was nuts

FA rules state that if "a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence."
As a result, Mustafi's foul on Kane took place before he was deemed to have committed an offence by being in an offside position, therefore the penalty was the right call.

Getting to the ball first is quite meainginless. You can be negligent in the process.
Something wrong with that rule. Doesn't seem fair. At least, shouldn't be penalties from such fouls.

I know. I don't think he was and didn't warrant a direct red if not for the cunt rolling around over acting plus most likely also the ref having bias towards the 'defensive midfielder'
Players react to the attacker on the field without thinking about offsides. They have to. There will be desperate last ditch attempts when they see the striker in a position with advantage. And then a diving cunt like kane will obviously make the most of it.
Yea, that rule isn't all right.

Horror challenge: http://arsenalist.com/f/2018-19/lucas-torreira-straight-red-2019-03-02.html
A fraction later and that's a broken leg when the foot has been planted. I hope we don't protest the three games he'll surely get for it, because there's probably gonna be a fourth too if we do.
Torreira's is a red, but Rose should already have been off for planting his studs in Leno's chest.
Horror challenge? That was a yellow maximum, but most of all it was a good tackle that he happened to catch Rose in the follow through. There were two things horrifying in that game: our strikers' finishing, and the refereeing. Laca and Auba really let us down.
Edit: 3 things. Mustafi.

Hear hear.
Let this be the end of any praise. They've won fuck all, and still can't beat us.
jones wrote:Maybe the ref was horrible for both if those were the only two incidents all game. Let's see
- Offside for their penalty
- soft touch for their penalty Mustafi clearly bumped him, was a foul
- soft call for our penalty
- Vertonghen literally five yards into the box when Auba takes the pen
- barges into him for the rebound C'mon, you're grasping here. That was a great block (bar your point above)
- no red for Rose for stomping Leno
- dozens of unpunished elbows and violent shoves all over It's a derby, didn't see anything that bad
- diving all over the pitch Taylor kept his cards at bay for lots of fouls and dives early, didn't seem a bad thing...kept the game flowing and not interrupted by cards.
- red card for Torreira for good measure Mid week weren't all of us clamoring for a red against Bournemouth for a similar tackle?
Yeah seems evenly matched.
I think people are only upset at the ref because he had to be involved with major decisions. In my opinion, he didn't get many of them wrong.
Frustrating not to win but a draw keeps us well in the hunt for top 4

Okay mate.

- Our penalty - the decision also looked marginal. But what a waste. Slow and narrow. In fairness, he’d scored 4 of his previous 5.
This is is for me. He may have scored 4 of his last five but I was never confident of him scoring. I was dreading him taking it even before he stepped up and they showed the graphic of his previous attempts. Seeing the graphic made me realise just how bad they had been previously and that it wasn't just my imagination. All taken really narrow and not even close to the corner.
He also doesn't ever hit it with power either on any of the penalties he's taken for us. He's a good finishes but not a good penalty taker. Then again I don't know who would have taken a proper penalty for us out of those remaning on the pitch at that point.

Do you think we'll finally do United?

Xhaka.

Auba is a bit like Henry when it comes to penalties. You were never quite confident that he'd put it away either. He could just as easily bang it right at the keeper.
Out of the players we've got I'd maybe be tempted to give Ramsey a shot if we're obsessing about details. Auba's record is good though; 4 out of 5 penalties is the kind of quantity you're usually looking for.
I think Xhaka or Mhiki would have been good choices to take the penalty. But it’s a moot point, you’re always going to have your star forward take it, especially as he was fresh from coming on as a sub.
The question now becomes who takes them moving forward?
Think Nacho would have slotted it away too.
