Would Jenkinson have done worse today than Mustafi? I fucking doubt it.

and because of these bottlers, stats like this persist.
although that should be wenger's face.
It should be Taylor's face.

hell to the NO, he probably would have played the game of his life. he reminds me of those shitty united players under fungus that would just briefly play out of their minds out of share love for their club.

Jenkinson probably wouldn't have been worse than Mustafi, but it's the kindest thing you can say about him. They both need to be shipped out asap. Mustafi's been here three years now and you can count the number of good games he's had on the fingers on one hand... just like the number of starts Jenkinson has made during that same time. Two Championship defenders, but one plays regularly and the other does not. Massive waste of squad places.
Wish we had a Lauren today taking the penalty, would have buried it.
Need to beat United now, probably have to score 4 with these refs.
Didn't even think of the encroachment by vertonghen either. Would be nowhere near that 'heroic' clearance if he wasn't a cheating turd, and the ref wasn't a blind twat
Tam wrote:Did anyone else feel we were avoiding playing out through Mustafi, or that he wasn’t being given the ball in situations another right back might have been?
Well he was fucking tragic on the ball so I couldn't blame them.
It was the fucking run-up. It completely telegraphed where he was going to hit it. I know he curved the run at the last second, but it was just a stupid way to take a pen.

Incredible! I had no idea it had been that long. Cazorla's masterclass at the Etihad or Podolski's winner at Anfield as the last one would be my guess.
I have other things to do today, but I feel like I want to sit here and moan about this shit all day. Can't get it out of my system. I feel ROBBED!
Btw - who was it that squared it to Aubameyang for the tap-in after the penalty.
Wobes.

Arteta's winner against City on Etihad, I think. Not entirely sure, but I've seen that one being brought up before when this stat was rolled out.
Arteta's winner (bottom corner from 20 yards to win 1-0) was at home, I think.

Did really well there then.

Yeah it was.

You're right, I just looked it up. It was in 2012 too, so it must have been later than that.
The last away win was Giroud and Cazorla vs City.
Best chance to do the double over them missed.
easy to be heroic clearing a ball of the line when you're basically in line with the penalty taker.
Who gives a fuck about stats like that. We should have won even with Auba Mustafi or whoever if it weren't for the ridiculously poor refs
There should be independent assessors of the referees, might shake them up to do their job properly.
Disgracefully poor officiating.
The linesmen leaning at nearly a 90° angle to subsequently miss the 4 Tottenham players that were offside for their penalty call takes top spot though.
As much as it's all a damn outrage, Lacazette absolutely has to put us 2-0 and then the officials can't hurt us with their incompetence. Then Aubameyang after that.
I'm madder at us than I am Spurs or the officials.
Agree Ricky, there was an offside but think we got a bit of luck back with penalty to be honest. The disappointment for me is in our inability to capitalise on our really good opportunities.
VAR should help address some of these officiating problems as well I think.
According to the rules I read, if the player in an offside position is fouled before challenging for the ball it's still a foul and penalty. We shouldn't blame the referee for this, we had every chance to win it.

It's true, but Kane was clearly challenging for the ball. According to the new definition he has an influence on the game.
You're right that we shouldn't blame the officiates though. There were many times we could have been done in today and we got the game served to us on a silver player in the end - when Auba took a clear dive. That's never a penalty in a million years and I feel it has to be stated in the name of fairness.

It wasn't a blind chance either. It was the one move that emery seems to shag himself to sleep every night and one we've probably done thousand times in practice. Laca does miss a couple chances before getting going but it was still very disappointing. And at 2-0 it'd have opened up much more for us. Ugh,what ifs
Just finished first half. That seemed pretty evenly matched. We ceded a lot of possession which they were unable to do much with. The goal was great. Wonderful release by Lacazette - good awareness to see Ramsey wouldn’t be offside. And Ramsey’s composite throughout the move was top class. Leno’s reflexes for the second of his saves - none of our other recent goalies would’ve achieved that.
Btw, if mustafi continues to be a fixture next year here, I'll continue with the zero expectations for the club despite any other factor bar none. No more blaming manager, personnel, tactics nothing. That dude needs to go away, join flamini in renewable energy or something.

Yep, the ref was horrible for both teams, I don't know what people are complaining about.
The thing about refereeing errors is that they don't play in your head like penalty misses do. Can't get that poor penalty off my mind. That was one hand on 3rd with our momentum and run in.
Maybe the ref was horrible for both if those were the only two incidents all game. Let's see
- Offside for their penalty
- soft touch for their penalty
- soft call for our penalty
- Vertonghen literally five yards into the box when Auba takes the pen
- barges into him for the rebound
- no red for Rose for stomping Leno
- dozens of unpunished elbows and violent shoves all over
- diving all over the pitch
- red card for Torreira for good measure
Yeah seems evenly matched.
Anyway what's this talk of "we shouldn't blame the ref" why the fuck not. We're not the players who might have a reason to be tough on themselves - and even then pisspoor ref performances like these should serve to draw anger and motivation for the next games. Why exactly is it better to focus on Aubas shitty penalty attempt?
Yes he let the team down, Özil was disappointing too. The rest of the team played well away to our homeless rivals, well enough that with a proper ref we would've won
refs were clowns, but when they give you a makeup gift penalty you have to take it.
Don't think anyone has said we shouldn't blame the refs.
Just finished game. Few highlights.
- Lacazette’s 53rd minute missing following the Iwobi/Monreal overlap was very poor.
- Their Penalty - Kane was offside, but the kind of call that a human can miss. Mustafi was reckless. Kane had a man on him so there was no need to nudge him.
- Our penalty - the decision also looked marginal. But what a waste. Slow and narrow. In fairness, he’d scored 4 of his previous 5.
- Torreira tackle was a red
The draw seems fair. I feel for referees. They need VAR quickly. They’ve probably always been shit. They just haven’t been under as much scrutiny as they are with all the replays and second screen conversations.
Lacazette had two amazing chances, literally was not further than 7 yards out for both, and somehow shanked both way off target, it still is unbelievable.
Aubameyang had the perfect opportunity to put us as probably the favourites to be in the top 4, and frankly bottled it.
Both of them need to be better in these situations.
That Lacazette miss, was seriously unbelievable.
As for Mustafi, get rid. He doesn’t realise, he has never ever got away with these stupid fouls. He always gets done, and he continues to make them. For fucks sake, get rid.

Ctrl + F "shouldn't blame" two hits on this very page mate.

Seems about right, but the Torreira red seems justifiable. Look at the tackle again. It’s not pretty. I look forward to automation of refereeing. These guys aren’t malicious. There’s too much happening too quickly with margins that are often too small for the human eye.
If FIFA were a progressive organization, they would be at the forefront of AA/AI for football. Teams shouldn’t have to bear these coats.
