They really need to bring in VAR. They’ll still fuck it but obvious shit like today and we come away with the win. Referees are genuinely ruining games for me.

Leno too. Not only was the double save class (obviously the second was a miracle save), but his kicking was very good too. Which helped hugely.

Spurs should fight against VAR tooth and nail, they're completely fucked when it comes in.
"he was good except for that mistake that lead to the goal."
that's the epitaph for mustafi's arsenal career.

And everyone keeps going on about the rest of the team about chances created bs

Everything he did apart from costing us all those points was pretty OK.

Sat alone in a pub watching it, few cheers from the back when Aubameyang missed the penalty which isn’t helping.
Subs were poor, felt we lost quite a lot when they came on. We did brilliantly to shut them out too.
Make like your avatar and go glass them Tam.
I was in that pub and on that balcony recently. I’m not a violent or reckless person but the temptation was strong.
Fair play to Emery today, I think he has us set up well. Let down by some mistakes within the team but he did a good job.
Very odd game. It feels like a loss the way it played out, but it's a decent result all things considered. I don't think we were that good on the face of it; Leno absolutely bossed it in the first half with two world class saves that would have been certain goals on most weekends, and we would have been in a world of trouble if either had gone in. Spurs were dirty as fuck throughout the game but so were we. Xhaka got away with murder today and it was a shocking tackle from Torreira at the end.
Both penalty situations looked nonexistent to me, but there you go. They score theirs; we still get a golden opportunity to grab the three points only to bottle it at the end. Feeling is that Aubameyang let us down massively, but shit happens. Laca's big miss was as bad. Sokratis was the best player on the pitch for me followed closely by Monreal. Mkhi, Leno and Ramsey had good games too.
I think Sokratis and Leno are the two biggest positive takeaways from the game. If nothing else this showed us that we have a centreback who can dominate bigger opponents physically and a goalkeeper who can make saves he has no right to make. Both should come really handy during the run-in.
Oh, and fuck Sanchez. What a perfectly horrible little goblin he is.

I really hope they finish outside the top 4. It's close. I don't care if it's Chelsea and United that displaces them if not us, but they need to fucking go back where they belong. Title contenders it seems.
Let it be noted for anyone here that likes to go on about God damn Spurs and God damn Pochetinno like they are something special: they were fucking shit today. From back to front and start to finish. Negative team selection, no game-plan and woeful defnsively.
There is very little between them and us. On today's evidence, it'd be an insult to us to say that even.

Yep. Had little to do, but he did it damn well

If Auba had put that penalty away it'd have been hard to criticise Emery for the rest of the season.
Mustafi is just thick. Absolutely brain-dead man who makes absurd decisions.
He's the mind of guy who would follow a trail of biscuits, picking them up and eating them, until he looks up to see he had been led in front of an oncoming train
Did anyone else feel we were avoiding playing out through Mustafi, or that he wasn’t being given the ball in situations another right back might have been?
I haven't felt this cheated by a football game in years. Tottenham are shit and we did more than enough to come away with a win. A combination of serious bad luck (and Auba bottling it) and shockingly incompetent refereeing did us.
Time for VAR. Wenger was right all along. It's not perfect but fuck this, this was seriously fucked beyond any acceptable level. How was Danny Rose still on the pitch after randomly lunging at our goalkeeper?
Our penalty should have been retaken after spurs players ran into the box before Auba's kick (thus allowing for them to clear the follow-up).

This is pissing me off even more than their non existent pen
Meatwad wrote:100+m spent on big game bottling forwards. they can start scoring again after the manyoo game and do their handshake.
Yep. They're both very good players, especially Aubameyang. But it's moments like that which define your career at a club. They each wilted and it has cost us what would have been, in many different ways, a huge victory.
Ramsey, the FA Cup slayer, on the other hand...
Mustafi is just stupid as fuck. Seriously is there anyone who still think he is decent left? Why do that push?
The pen should be retaken. No way Vertoghen get in that block if he didnt encroach

Would Jenkinson have done worse today than Mustafi? I fucking doubt it.
and because of these bottlers, stats like this persist.
although that should be wenger's face.
It should be Taylor's face.
Jed wrote:Would Jenkinson have done worse today than Mustafi? I fucking doubt it.
hell to the NO, he probably would have played the game of his life. he reminds me of those shitty united players under fungus that would just briefly play out of their minds out of share love for their club.
Jed wrote:Would Jenkinson have done worse today than Mustafi? I fucking doubt it.
Jenkinson probably wouldn't have been worse than Mustafi, but it's the kindest thing you can say about him. They both need to be shipped out asap. Mustafi's been here three years now and you can count the number of good games he's had on the fingers on one hand... just like the number of starts Jenkinson has made during that same time. Two Championship defenders, but one plays regularly and the other does not. Massive waste of squad places.
Wish we had a Lauren today taking the penalty, would have buried it.
Need to beat United now, probably have to score 4 with these refs.
Didn't even think of the encroachment by vertonghen either. Would be nowhere near that 'heroic' clearance if he wasn't a cheating turd, and the ref wasn't a blind twat
Tam wrote:Did anyone else feel we were avoiding playing out through Mustafi, or that he wasn’t being given the ball in situations another right back might have been?
Well he was fucking tragic on the ball so I couldn't blame them.
It was the fucking run-up. It completely telegraphed where he was going to hit it. I know he curved the run at the last second, but it was just a stupid way to take a pen.

Incredible! I had no idea it had been that long. Cazorla's masterclass at the Etihad or Podolski's winner at Anfield as the last one would be my guess.
I have other things to do today, but I feel like I want to sit here and moan about this shit all day. Can't get it out of my system. I feel ROBBED!
Btw - who was it that squared it to Aubameyang for the tap-in after the penalty.
Wobes.

Arteta's winner against City on Etihad, I think. Not entirely sure, but I've seen that one being brought up before when this stat was rolled out.
Arteta's winner (bottom corner from 20 yards to win 1-0) was at home, I think.

Did really well there then.

Yeah it was.

You're right, I just looked it up. It was in 2012 too, so it must have been later than that.
The last away win was Giroud and Cazorla vs City.
Best chance to do the double over them missed.
