Outrageous goal

Bloody hell.

i didnt find that goal to be THAT outrageous. nice goal, good technique, but we see 5-10 of those kinds of goals every year...

the Roma goal was a bit better since he went on a nice mazy run, but even with that one, how the keeper didnt save it is beyond me

It's a great goal but there's something ungainly about it.

Eder? The Swansea Eder?

Nice goal, but not anything extraordinary.

Enjoyed the goalie's reaction more TBH.

Wait, what am I missing? That's a sick goal.

Was heavily linked with us once upon a time, Fornals scored an absolute beauty yesterday

Also produced this outrageous skill

It’s really good isn’t it. Almost like Henry vs Man U...

Except it also had a scissor kick added in.

Perhaps the absence of Bale-esque level power behind it is what has people relatively unimpressed, but that is a sumptuous strike.

10 days later

Henry appointed new Villa manager, Terry his assistant. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Hopefully it goes amazingly well and he's a managerial genius who can then take over here when the Emery magic wanes out.

Hope Thierry goes brilliantly but I don't have a lot of faith that he will.

It will feel truly uncomfortable seeing him and Terry sitting side by side for a while. :boris:

Hopefully Terry doesn’t accidentally racially abuse him by repeating the racial slur that he thought Thierry accused him of using.

Anyway, it’s not actually been confirmed, but hopefully it goes well if it does materialise. Would be good to have Thierry back at the club at some point.

Can't wait to see Terry turn up in full kit to do the manager press conferences.

Hmm. He must really be putting himself out there with the volume of vacancies he seems to be linked with recently. Or is the press just on one again?

I'd imagine there's something behind the Villa link, but the Monaco one may be lazy journalism (or not) due to the past player connection.

It wasn’t long ago people wanted Jardim over Emery.

I was one of them. I was half way towards changing my mind after reading up on what Emery is all about, the other half being dependent on how that materialises on the pitch. Let’s see, I’m about 80% of the way there.. I still rate Jardim, not based on what I’ve read but what he did with Monaco over the last couple of seasons and the football they played. Think it would have suited us.

Monaco would be a good one for Thierry. Follows a similar template to our own in many respects. Hopefully he gets it.

I was one of them as well. I find it too hard to believe that the club didn't want him over Emery, so my theory is still that he turned us down.

Emery is the better manager and possesses a superior CV.

Difficult to say who the better manager is. Jardim has had the higher peak with his league win but Emery has a lot more experience at the highest level and his teams are a lot more flexible than Jardims who literally only plays 442. I'm happy with Emery but I also hope Jardim doesn't replace Mourinho any time soon

Have people seen Jardim's team and the squad he has at his disposal this season? Its so young its insane.

They have taken their selling policy too far this season.

Jardim has now been sacked. Hoping to see Thierry get the nod.

Aye, Monaco do not operate like a healthy club. There's no blame on Jardim's part for this collapse. I just hope he doesn't get the United job whenever Jose gets sacked.

I love watching that bloke play football.

Ridiculous strike.

Never scores a bad goal!

That was one hell of a shot. I dont care who they were playing, no keeper is stopping that shit

It’s a shame he hasn’t shown up since the summer of 2014....

Hmmmm, not sure about that. Was apparently one of Bayern's better players last year, or the year before.

Yep. Aside from being awarded the best midfielder in Spain and getting into the team of the season in both La Liga and Bundesliga, and twice in Champions League, he's sure been quiet.

Never spent much time watching him other than the odd highlights from the leagues or CL.
That said IMO he's wasted at Bayern much as he was at RM.
IIRC he made his mark at the WC as #10 / SS, whereas for both RM and Bayern he's been used more from the midfield or the flanks.

Ozil really did a number on Germany. Even well after his departure, they can barely play any coherent football. Only Sane seemed to have any purpose.
Netherlands, on the other hand, looked good all around. The 3-0 scoreline reflects their dominance. They fluffed a lot of chances, and constantly keep getting forward with their dynamic attack.

How long before Germany find another scapegoat?
They have a very good team but are lumbered with a poor manager who is not even Bundesliga quality.

Was never convinced by Loew and dreaded the rumors of him replacing Wenger. Glad it never transpired and he didn't get his dirty mitts on the job, the arse-sniffing weirdo.

Watching them now feels like watching Arsenal under Wenger in the latter years. Lack of new ideas.

I wonder if they’ve passed their talent sweet spot like peak Spain.

Is Muller finished?

from just watching him at the WC, i would say he is a ridiculously pale shadow of what he was.  he was literally the worst player on the pitch in every game he played during the WC.. he was fairly poor last 2 seasons for Bayern from what i could tell

Germany need a new manager that is for sure. It’s gotten all Wengery.
