These awards have always been garbage

Individual awards in team sports is generally a lousy idea. And even if the idea was to analyse every player in every team to come up with an informed point about who had the biggest positive positional influence for their club there's no one in the world who's going to go through all that data.

People will always want them. A nice little debate to have like iOS vs Android.
How do you compare exploits across competitions? Players across positions? Nobody fucking knows, but it keeps media houses alive

Salah's award is a joke. Just take a look at the past winners and then his goal.

They should give fans 50%. The award is threatened by fans who spend a lot of time on the Internet like Pool’s and Arsenal’s

Decent volley from John McGinn for a losing side.

Stinker of a strike. Well done.

United down to 10 men and drawing at home to Derby 😆

It’s mostly a first choice lineup too with a few exceptions.

Post needs update now  haha

Fellaini bailed them out again

They’re out on pens 😆

Their keeper let in 8 without saving a single pen 😆

Phil Jones is one of my favourite players.

Bundesliga fans in Germany are apparently staging an atmosphere boycott to protest inconvenient start times and general price increases / fan mistreatment.

I applaud the effort but I’m skeptical anything will come of it

Haven’t our home fans been doing the same for years? It’s done fuck all for our ticket prices.

Honestly can't believe Robben cut back on an open goal yesterday. I mean he did score in the end but still...

ha. I went through a phase myself when I couldn't stop myself from cutting inside when there was no need, it's instinctive more than anything else.

Ha! Good one Boss

This one is even better. Would love to see him in red and white, reminds me so much of Arshavin with his dribbling and ridiculous shot power in them stubby little legs

Outrageous goal

Bloody hell.

i didnt find that goal to be THAT outrageous. nice goal, good technique, but we see 5-10 of those kinds of goals every year...

the Roma goal was a bit better since he went on a nice mazy run, but even with that one, how the keeper didnt save it is beyond me

It's a great goal but there's something ungainly about it.

Eder? The Swansea Eder?

Nice goal, but not anything extraordinary.

Enjoyed the goalie's reaction more TBH.

Wait, what am I missing? That's a sick goal.

Was heavily linked with us once upon a time, Fornals scored an absolute beauty yesterday

Also produced this outrageous skill

It’s really good isn’t it. Almost like Henry vs Man U...

Except it also had a scissor kick added in.

Perhaps the absence of Bale-esque level power behind it is what has people relatively unimpressed, but that is a sumptuous strike.

10 days later

Henry appointed new Villa manager, Terry his assistant. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Hopefully it goes amazingly well and he's a managerial genius who can then take over here when the Emery magic wanes out.

Hope Thierry goes brilliantly but I don't have a lot of faith that he will.

It will feel truly uncomfortable seeing him and Terry sitting side by side for a while. :boris:

Hopefully Terry doesn’t accidentally racially abuse him by repeating the racial slur that he thought Thierry accused him of using.

Anyway, it’s not actually been confirmed, but hopefully it goes well if it does materialise. Would be good to have Thierry back at the club at some point.

Can't wait to see Terry turn up in full kit to do the manager press conferences.

Hmm. He must really be putting himself out there with the volume of vacancies he seems to be linked with recently. Or is the press just on one again?

I'd imagine there's something behind the Villa link, but the Monaco one may be lazy journalism (or not) due to the past player connection.

It wasn’t long ago people wanted Jardim over Emery.

I was one of them. I was half way towards changing my mind after reading up on what Emery is all about, the other half being dependent on how that materialises on the pitch. Let’s see, I’m about 80% of the way there.. I still rate Jardim, not based on what I’ve read but what he did with Monaco over the last couple of seasons and the football they played. Think it would have suited us.

Monaco would be a good one for Thierry. Follows a similar template to our own in many respects. Hopefully he gets it.

I was one of them as well. I find it too hard to believe that the club didn't want him over Emery, so my theory is still that he turned us down.

Emery is the better manager and possesses a superior CV.

Difficult to say who the better manager is. Jardim has had the higher peak with his league win but Emery has a lot more experience at the highest level and his teams are a lot more flexible than Jardims who literally only plays 442. I'm happy with Emery but I also hope Jardim doesn't replace Mourinho any time soon
