I'm watching this game at work ... and it makes me want to actually go back to work. Hope this goal brings some life into it.

Why don't Sweden play Guidetti instead?

Yeah definitely. I saw someone in another thread criticise the VAR system, but I love when it's being used like this. It hardly disrupts the game any more than a serious foul does but it has the potential to correct match-defining moments. Zero downside to it so far in my book.

I think the process can be improved on but as a concept it's brilliant.

The process is thrice as good in this tournament compared to Budesliga and Serie A already, huge improvement. Ref waste almost no time in giving pens after watching the review and the crowd get to see the replays as well.

the fact that they only want to be able to use it for a very select few types of incidents is what is working for it IMO.. penalty review.. goal review.. red card review... that's about it, no? all things that could benefit from another 3-4 sets of eyes

Because Granqvist injured him in training a week before the world cup 😆

I think he'll get a few minutes here and then start against one of Germany and Mexico.

Yeah, improvement's been incremental so far. The system will get better and better over the next few years. It's so nice to see that football can actually be progressive when old conservative men aren't holding it back.

The amount of penalties given due to VAR has surprised me, and shows how much wrong referee decisions affect results. Denmark, France and (Sweden) probably wouldn't have won without this technology.

It's great, isn't it? Referees have been treated like barn animals for too long.

I want to rub this in the face of everyone who told me poor decisions 'even themselves out'.

Hwang Hee Chan should have scored, What a chance!

lol.. koreans thinking that was a handball.. no way

Congratulations Klaus, first OMITT member with a win in this tournament so far no? Dreadful game though and I've actually sat through Morocco Iran

Cheers! Nice to finally see someone recognise that the result was partly down to me watching!

It was a bad game of football for sure. I don't know if I'd have bothered with it normally but I was texting live updates to my dad.

I've heard nothing of the sort, looks like English media trying to stir shit again. The only one who criticised him was Matthäus and that was for some joke reason like him not singing the national anthem.

He kind of deserves it though for that Erdogan shit, along with Gündogan.

You’re still asking for him to be dropped because of the Turkey thing? Let it rest.
